Development Manager

As the Development Manager for our cherished Cross Country Ski Club, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and implementing strategies to foster the growth, sustainability, and success of our non‑profit organization. This position demands a dynamic individual with a passion for winter recreation, coupled with exceptional communication skills and attention to detail. The successful candidate will collaborate with various stakeholders to drive fundraising efforts, grants, sponsorships, donor engagement, and assist with certain events and community engagement. They will work closely with the Executive Director, Program Coordinator, Nordic Program Manager, and appropriate committees of the Board of Directors. History: Glacier Nordic Club became official in 1984, although the start to youth ski education and nordic trail grooming started in 1978 with a small group of passionate cross country ski enthusiasts. We continue to grow, with 250 kids a part of winter long programs, adult programs, a Ski Team rental fleet, a mobile nordic shop that provides community rentals and lessons, and winter trail grooming at 4 main locations. We also offer summer camps, and year‑round community events. Primary Duties Support a vision and passion for growing the organization. Work closely with the club's leadership to develop and implement long‑term income generation strategies. Manage a grants program to research, submit, monitor and report on foundation, corporate and government grants. Monitor expenses and revenue of events and grants, providing regular reports to the club's leadership. Assist with maintaining an accurate database of prospects, individual donor, foundation, corporate and donor related information for use to support all development campaigns. Assist to develop and execute comprehensive fundraising strategies to secure financial support from individuals, businesses, and grants. Assist with creating, planning, and managing fundraising campaigns. Assist with systematically identifying, cultivating, soliciting, stewarding and acknowledging individual, corporate and foundation donors and sponsorships. Assist with planning and executing events that contribute to fundraising goals. Managing, evaluating, and reporting on development activities on a rolling basis and for monthly board meetings. Assist with financial tracking for programs, scholarships and memberships if requested. All other duties and research assigned. Work environment: Hybrid - Work from home using personal computer and GNC Office in Whitefish. Must be within a 30 mile radius of Whitefish, with ability to work in‑person, attend events and meetings. Benefits: Flexible schedule, PTO, paid holidays, health stipend, outdoor recreation passes. Strong communication and teamwork skills. Strong managerial, administrative, and organizational skills. Proven ability to plan, facilitate, and adapt in your work structure. Experience in fundraising, donor relations, and grant writing. Experience with event planning and marketing. Experience with human resources and administration. Experience with Excel, Word, Google Workspace. Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness and monitors work to ensure quality. Computer competency and ability to learn various database systems. Completion of background screening and abuse prevention training. Preferred past Nordic experience and/or understanding of the sport. Maintain a drug, tobacco and alcohol‑free environment. If using a personal auto on GNC business carry a personal auto policy with minimum liability limits of $100k/$300k and provide proof of such policy to GNC. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university. Minimum three years of experience formulating and executing successful, comprehensive fundraising programs. Proven experience in fundraising, development, or a related field. Knowledge of cross country skiing and winter recreation culture. Personal initiative and a strong work ethic. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Strong organizational and project management abilities. Residence in the Flathead Valley, Montana. Demonstrated competence in planning, budgeting and forecasting. Ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams and stakeholders. Strong strategic and operational leadership skills. Technology savvy; Ability to learn and utilize database software, fundraising event software, and other online tools. Physical Demands: Ability to work on the computer for prolonged periods.
