The Medical Assistant / Aesthetician supports the efficient operation of private dermatology practices and cosmetic dermatology centers by assisting dermatologists with clinical procedures and patient care. This role involves high patient volume, managing both in-person and telehealth visits, and contributing to dermatological treatments such as biopsies, excisions, and cosmetic interventions. The assistant ensures accurate documentation, patient education, and adherence to clinical protocols to maintain quality care and smooth patient flow.

Responsibilities

• Conduct patient intake and document medical histories accurately
• Assist dermatologists with biopsies, excisions, cosmetic treatments, and general dermatology support
• Collect and handle specimens according to proper protocols
• Schedule patient appointments and coordinate telehealth visits
• Provide patient education on treatments and wound care
• Maintain detailed and confidential medical records using EZDerm EHR system
• Ensure sterilization and maintenance of clinical equipment

Required Qualifications

• Flexibility to travel between Hoover AL location and Tuscaloosa AL location

Preferred Qualifications

• Entry-level experience in medical assisting
• CPR certification
• Phlebotomy skills
• Familiarity with Electronic Medical Records (EMR), specifically EZDerm
• Excellent patient communication skills
• Knowledge of dermatology-specific procedures
• Experience in specimen handling
• Strong time management and teamwork abilities
