Job DescriptionJob DescriptionAutomotive Technician / R&R Mechanic – Full TimeSmog Mart is looking for an experienced, dependable Automotive Technician / R&R Mechanic to join our busy automotive repair facility in South Sacramento.Our primary need is a strong remove-and-replace (R&R) technician who can efficiently perform general mechanical repairs. Experience with diagnostics, diesel repair, California Smog inspections, or VSSI Brake & Lamp inspections is a major plus and can significantly increase earning potential.Responsibilities:Perform general automotive repair and R&R workEngines and engine componentsTransmissionsSuspension and steeringBrakesCooling systemsAlternators, starters, water pumps and related componentsA/C and heating repairsTiming components and other mechanical repairsInspect vehicles and identify additional needed repairsAccurately communicate findings to the service teamMaintain an organized and professional work areaComplete repairs efficiently while maintaining quality workmanshipHighly Preferred Skills:Automotive diagnostics and electrical troubleshootingCheck-engine-light and drivability diagnosisDiesel repair experienceCalifornia Smog Check licenseCalifornia VSSI / Brake & Lamp inspection experienceASE certificationsYou do not need to have every specialty listed above. We are primarily looking for a capable R&R mechanic. Technicians with additional diagnostic, diesel, Smog, or VSSI experience will receive strong consideration and may qualify for higher compensation.Requirements:Previous professional automotive repair experienceStrong mechanical knowledgeAbility to independently complete common R&R jobsAbility to properly diagnose basic mechanical problemsReliable and dependableValid driver's licenseProfessional attitude and good communicationAbility to work efficiently in a busy repair-shop environmentCompensation:$25–$40+ per hour depending on experience, capabilities, licenses, and certifications.We are looking for someone who wants a stable position with a busy, established automotive repair facility and has the experience to begin contributing immediately.\nCompany DescriptionSmog Mart is an established full-service automotive repair and inspection facility serving the Sacramento area.
