Posting Summary Rutgers University Correctional Health Care is seeking a Full‑Time Staff Nurse for the Adult Diagnostic Treatment Center in Avenel, NJ. The Staff Nurse utilizes the nursing process to meet a variety of health‑care needs with ambulatory care as a primary focus, works with a variety of health‑care professionals and security officers in a correctional environment, and functions as a team leader when assigned. Responsibilities Provide direct and indirect nursing care to meet the physiological, psychosocial, and emotional needs of the inmate patient and their families, including adults (18–64) and geriatrics (65+). Utilize effective communication skills, demonstrating respect, concern, and courtesy in all interpersonal relationships. Attend appropriate in‑services and continuing education offerings to obtain and maintain necessary skills. Participate in offering educational sessions to inmates, security officers, and other members of the health‑care team. Attend or lead in‑service meetings and educational programs as assigned and approved by the supervisor. Qualifications Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing with a license to practice in the State of New Jersey. CPR Certification. Registered Nurse license in New Jersey. Valid driver’s license and a means of reliable transportation between sites. Preferably a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or equivalent. Preferably at least one year of experience in a correctional setting. Salary and Compensation Grade: 01D Minimum Salary: $37,230 Mid‑Range Salary: $46,540 Maximum Salary: $54,050 Final salary offer may be determined by factors including qualifications, experience, and funding availability.
