Custodial Specialist

Facility Maintenance WorkerResponsible for the overall care and cleanliness of the facilities and public areas of the Desert Botanical Garden.Job Type: Full-Time, Non-ExemptSchedule: M-F 5:00pm - 1:00amPay: $20.00/hrEssential DutiesPerform daily and weekly routine cleaning and custodial maintenance on building facilities.Provide exemplary guest service for both internal and external guestsMonitor inventory (cleaning supplies, paper products) for specific assigned work areasUnderstand and demonstrate the proper use of safety practices; ensure training standards are maintained for the departmentRemove trash from buildings and trailsUndertake special cleaning projects including cleaning carpets, waxing floors, scrubbing walls, and cleaning glassUnderstand environmental, health, and safety best practices; follow established Garden policy, procedures, and trainingRequirementsTwo years of custodial experienceMust be self-motivated with strong attention to detailKnowledge of OSHA regulations regarding chemicals used in cleaningAbility to operate floor equipmentMust work well under pressure and multi-taskGood communication and time management skillsValid driver's license requiredAbility to work off-hours with evenings, weekends, and/or holidaysEquipment UsedIn addition to typical office equipment, this role will use vacuums (handheld and backpack units), mops, brooms, extensions, dusters, sprayers, scrubbers, toiletry, cleaning chemicals, and safety gear.Internal CommunicationFrequent communication with Garden employees and volunteers. Some communication with visitors.External CommunicationLimitedWorking ConditionsModerate physical effort beyond what's typically required in a normal office environment. Potential for tight deadlines or time periods of high workload may require additional hours. The noise level in the work environment can vary. This role may occasionally require outside work in extreme heat, cold and rain.This role requires the ability to walk, sit, stand, stoop, kneel, bend, see, hear, speak, and type.
