Pay: $26–$28 per hour
Hours/Shift: 1:30 PM – 10:00PM 2nd Shift
Schedule: Full-Time, DIRECT HIRE

Position Summary

Our client, a leading global designer and manufacturer of audiovisual solutions, is seeking an experienced Grinder/Sander to join their team on 2nd shift. This position is responsible for grinding and sanding welded metal parts to meet quality standards and specifications. The ideal candidate has experience using various grinding and sanding tools, strong attention to detail, and a commitment to workplace safety.

Key Responsibilities

• Select and install the appropriate abrasive belts, wheels, sanding rolls, and discs based on job specifications and material conditions.
• Operate a variety of tools, including large and small angle grinders, belt sanders, die grinders, orbital sanders, drum sanders, and hand files.
• Visually and physically inspect parts for dents, scratches, rust, and other surface imperfections.
• Grind and sand metal surfaces to remove scratches, tool marks, excess weld material, sharp edges, and burrs.
• Ensure finished parts meet established quality standards and specifications.
• Perform routine cleanup of equipment and maintain a clean, organized work area.
• Assist with material handling and staging using manual pallet jacks and/or forklifts as needed.
• Follow all company safety policies, OSHA requirements, and established work procedures.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• At least one year of related experience and/or training preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Familiarity with grinding, sanding, and polishing tools is preferred.
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to identify surface defects.
• Ability to follow instructions, work independently, and meet quality standards.
• Commitment to maintaining a safe and organized work environment.

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions

• Ability to stand, bend, stoop, and maneuver throughout an eight-hour or longer shift.
• Ability to lift, carry, and move up to 30 pounds independently. Items weighing more than 30 pounds require a team lift.
• Ability to push and pull materials and equipment as needed.
• Ability to wear required personal protective equipment, including gloves, safety glasses, and respirators.
• Willingness to work overtime, including weekends, based on production needs.
