Project Manager

Matcon Construction Services is seeking a results-driven Project Manager to lead commercial construction projects from preconstruction through closeout. This role is responsible for financial performance, schedule execution, subcontractor management, and client satisfaction. The Project Manager serves as the operational leader of the project and is accountable for delivering projects safely, on schedule, within budget, and to Matcon’s quality standards. This role requires strong leadership, financial discipline, and the ability to drive accountability across internal teams and subcontractors. Key Responsibilities Lead projects from contract execution through final closeout Develop and manage project schedules in coordination with Superintendents Conduct and lead OAC meetings Maintain proactive communication with owners, architects, and stakeholders Ensure alignment between field operations and office coordination Identify risks early and implement mitigation strategies Develop and manage project budgets Track cost performance and forecast monthly Manage change orders, pricing, and negotiations Review and approve subcontractor pay applications Maintain margin accountability and cost control Provide accurate monthly financial reporting Oversee subcontractor buyout process Negotiate scopes and contracts Ensure subcontractor compliance and performance Resolve conflicts and performance issues proactively Preconstruction & Planning Participate in preconstruction planning and value engineering Review plans and specifications for constructability Support estimating team during handoff and project startup Develop procurement schedules and long-lead item tracking Quality, Safety & Closeout Ensure project compliance with safety standards Oversee punch list management and closeout documentation Deliver complete and organized turnover packages Maintain high standards of workmanship and project presentation Qualifications 5+ years of commercial construction experience Experience managing ground-up and/or significant renovation projects Strong understanding of construction contracts and project financials Ability to read and interpret drawings and specifications Proficiency in project management software (Procore preferred) Strong communication and leadership skills Ownership mentality — treats each project like a business unit Financially disciplined and margin-aware Calm under pressure and solution-oriented Decisive and accountable High standards for quality and performance Team leader who elevates PEs and supports field leadership What Success Looks Like at Matcon Projects are delivered on time and within budget Margins are protected and forecasted accurately Clients trust and request repeat work Field and office teams operate in alignment Problems are solved early, not reacted to late
