Purpose of the Role:

The Director of Sales & Marketing provides strategic leadership and direction for the company’s sales and marketing functions, with responsibility for driving revenue growth, market development, brand strategy, and customer acquisition. This role leads, manages, and develops the Sales and Marketing teams, including direct reports, and is accountable for establishing goals, driving performance, and ensuring alignment with the company’s overall business objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead, manage, coach, and develop the sales team to achieve revenue, bookings, and growth objectives, while establishing clear performance expectations and accountability.
• Develop and execute sales strategies, goals, territories, account plans, market segmentation, and go-to-market strategies to support company growth objectives.
• Drive new business development and expansion within existing customer accounts.
• Manage the sales process from lead generation and qualification through proposal, negotiation, and close.
• Ensure timely and consistent follow-up on leads, customer inquiries, quotes, proposals, and open opportunities.
• Conduct regular pipeline reviews, monitor sales activity and performance, and maintain accurate sales forecasts.
• Identify stalled or at-risk opportunities and establish clear actions and accountability with the sales team.
• Participate in strategic customer opportunities, proposals, negotiations, presentations, and key account meetings.
• Identify target accounts, industries, applications, and market opportunities to support continued growth.
• Ensure accurate and timely maintenance of customer, lead, opportunity, and pipeline information within Salesforce and other sales systems.
• Lead, manage, and develop the marketing function and team, establishing priorities, performance expectations, and accountability aligned with company sales, growth, and brand objectives.
• Develop and execute marketing and go-to-market strategies for existing and new products, services, markets, and customer segments.
• Develop and maintain a consolidated brand strategy and ensure consistent branding, messaging, positioning, and value propositions across target markets.
• Oversee lead-generation initiatives, targeted campaigns, digital marketing, website, SEO, social media, email marketing, marketing automation, and content development.
• Oversee trade show and event strategy, planning, execution, and post-event lead follow-up.
• Direct the development and maintenance of marketing and sales materials, including presentations, brochures, case studies, website content, product materials, and other customer-facing communications.
• Monitor marketing performance, lead conversion, campaign effectiveness, and return on investment.
• Conduct market and competitive research and support Voice of Customer initiatives to identify customer needs, competitive positioning, emerging trends, and market opportunities.
• Monitor competitive positioning and ensure relevant competitive intelligence and sales tools are maintained and communicated to the sales team.
• Establish and monitor sales and marketing KPIs, including pipeline activity, lead conversion, sales performance, bookings, forecasting, and marketing effectiveness.
• Develop and manage the Sales and Marketing budget, monitor expenditures, and evaluate return on investment.
• Provide market, customer, and competitive intelligence to support product positioning, pricing strategy, and commercial decision-making.
• Utilize Salesforce, HubSpot, ZoomInfo, Google Analytics, and other tools to improve sales and marketing effectiveness, reporting, and decision-making.
• Continuously improve sales and marketing processes, reporting, tools, and workflows to increase efficiency, visibility, and accountability.
• Partner cross-functionally with Operations, Engineering, Customer Service & Support, Finance, and other departments to align sales and marketing priorities with business capabilities and company objectives.

Qualification Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Sales, Communications, Engineering, or a related field preferred.
• 7+ years of progressive sales, business development, or commercial leadership experience, preferably within industrial equipment, automation, manufacturing, material handling, or a related B2B environment.
• Demonstrated experience leading, managing, and developing teams and direct reports, including goal setting, coaching, performance management, and accountability; prior sales leadership experience required.
• Demonstrated experience driving revenue growth and managing complex B2B sales cycles, pipelines, forecasts, and key customer relationships.
• Experience leading or overseeing marketing, lead generation, digital campaigns, trade shows, brand development, and market development preferred.
• Experience developing sales strategies, market segmentation, go-to-market plans, and business development initiatives.
• Proficiency with CRM and sales and marketing technology; Salesforce, HubSpot, ZoomInfo, and Google Analytics experience preferred.
• Strong leadership, coaching, analytical, communication, presentation, negotiation, and organizational skills.
• Strong business and financial acumen with the ability to use data and market intelligence to support commercial decision-making.
• Ability to collaborate effectively across functions and manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
• Ability to travel as required.
