Manager, Business Development (Litigation) (New York)

Job overviewDentons US LLP is recruiting for a Business Development Manager to support the Litigation practice. This role works closely with litigation practice leaders and lawyers to develop and execute business development and marketing initiatives that strengthen client relationships, support new business opportunities and enhance the profile of the practice. The ideal candidate is a true self‑starter who proactively identifies opportunities and drives initiatives forward rather than simply responding to requests.The Business Development Manager will serve as a hands‑on partner to lawyers, leading pitches and proposals and supporting practice‑level strategy while collaborating closely with colleagues across business development, marketing and communications. This is a hybrid position and open to any Dentons location.Key responsibilitiesProposal development and managementPractice and partner supportWork with Litigation practice leaders to assess business development needs and support implementation of strategic prioritiesPartner with lawyers to support client development efforts including target identification, pursuit strategy and follow‑through, proactively surfacing opportunities and flagging concerns to leadership as appropriatePrepare and deliver annual “Year in Review” reports and conduct data analysis to measure ROI and identify growth opportunitiesAttend practice group meetings and proactively identify opportunities for collaboration, cross‑selling and talent needs within the practicePitches, proposals and credentialsLead and support pitches, proposals and responses to Requests for Proposals for litigation mattersDraft and coordinate compelling content for proposals, presentations and related materials in alignment with firm brandingCollect, maintain and leverage matter and case information for use in pitches, credentials, biographies and marketing materialsBusiness development strategy and researchConduct market, industry and competitive intelligence research to identify growth opportunitiesMonitor client, sector and geographic trends and prepare insight‑driven research and briefing materials for partnersCreate customized client briefing dossiers to support partner meetings and outreachThought leadership, events and visibilitySupport the development and promotion of litigation thought leadership initiativesAssist with planning and execution of seminars, webinars, sponsorships and client eventsCollaborate with communications and public relations colleagues to support media and profile‑raising opportunitiesRankings, directories and profile‑raisingDraft and manage Chambers USA and other legal directory and awards submissionsWork with lawyers to identify and articulate key matters and credentialsLateral integration and internal collaborationSupport onboarding and integration of lateral partners including business development planning, biographies and announcements; help identify and attract strong talent to the practiceCollaborate with recruiting, marketing, communications and other internal teams to ensure coordinated supportTools, technology and reportingUse CRM and marketing technology tools to support client targeting, tracking and information sharingTrack business development activity and contribute to reporting and analysis that demonstrate impactQualifications and experience7 plus years of business development or marketing experience in a professional services environment with law firm experience required (BD litigation experience preferred)Experience supporting litigation practices or complex subject matter teamsDemonstrated experience supporting pitches, proposals and client development initiativesStrong writing and editing skills with the ability to translate complex legal concepts into clear, client‑focused messagingHighly organized with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlinesProven ability to work effectively with partners and senior stakeholdersA self‑starter who is strategic, proactive and service‑oriented with strong problem‑solving skills and the initiative to drive projects independentlyProficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook as well as CRM toolsFamiliarity with marketing technology and emerging tools including AI‑enabled platforms is a plusSalary Pursuant with states' laws, the salary range for this position is $140,000 - $180,000, based on experience and local market. Dentons US LLP offers a competitive salary and benefits package including medical, dental, vision, 401k, profit sharing, short-term/long-term disability, life insurance, tuition reimbursement, paid time off, paid holidays and discretionary bonuses.
