Benefits Signing bonus Access to the people and financial resources of a large veterinary community Leadership opportunities Career development programs Opportunities to give back through Shelter partnerships and VCA Charities CE allowance Tuition support and sponsorships Vet Tech license reimbursement Free wellness subscriptions (Head Space) Referral bonuses Competitive wage Medical, dental & vision insurance Life, long and short-term disability insurance Paid parental leave Paid vacation and sick time 401(k) Responsibilities Directing workflow on the floor Help with the interview process for potential new hires Technician scheduling Assists in staffing and coverage where needed Assists in the educational development of technicians and their skills Assists in basic protocol and standard procedure training Provide opportunities for staff to gain more firsthand experience Mentoring technicians within the department Working with department doctors to develop protocols to improve the service Ensure that VCA policies, guidelines, and recommendations are implemented by all members of the technical staff Qualifications Certified veterinary technician (preferred) with a minimum of five years technical experience, and 2 years supervisory/management experience preferred Professional demeanor and appearance, excellent interpersonal skills, and a positive, friendly attitude Ability to plan, organize, make decisions, and communicate effectively and clearly with fellow team members, clients and doctors Able to handle multiple tasks at once, and deal with high levels of stress in an environment of changing priorities Must be able to work full-time hours, flexibility a must, including occasional holidays Strong medical skills This position is a working supervisory position.
