Learn more at Position Overview The University of North Texas Division of University Advancement seeks an innovative, skilled, and storytelling-driven creative to serve as Senior Visual Communications Strategist—a hybrid designer, editor, and brand ambassador responsible for shaping the look, feel, and emotional impact of Advancement’s campaigns. This role contributes to UNT’s creative strategy and translates strategy into on-brand visual storytelling across donor proposals, impact videos, and related content. Reporting to the Creative Director and working with the Advancement Communications team, the Senior Strategist collaborates with writers, project leads, and communications directors to ensure every piece—whether a social graphic or event video—looks excellent, sounds aligned, and feels like UNT. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in a related field and five years of professional related experience in writing and/or editing publications; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Creative Leadership: High-level design instincts across media; ability to take initiative and own the visual side of a project from concept through completion. Multimedia Fluency: Proficiency in design, video editing, and light animation; capable of creating content that moves and connects. Storytelling Alignment: Understands how visuals support narrative and collaborates with writers and strategists to elevate message through image. Agility Under Pressure: Organized, focused, and creative in a fast-paced, multi-project environment. Brand Stewardship: Maintains consistency, tone, and visual cohesion across the university brand. Constructive Collaboration: Team-minded and responsive to feedback, committed to improving the final product. Quality Control: Detail-oriented and committed to clean, accessible, polished work—every time. Preferred Qualifications Experience in higher education, advancement, or nonprofit communications. Familiarity with accessibility standards and design practices. Understanding of philanthropic storytelling and donor communications. Job Duties Design, video, and multimedia storytelling Design and produce high-quality creative assets across print, digital, and video to support donor relations, alumni engagement, major gift proposals, campaigns, and university events. Produce, edit, and deliver short-form video content for use in email campaigns, social media, email, and events. Incorporate motion design or animation to enhance emotional and visual impact where appropriate. Ensure content meets accessibility guidelines, production specs, and brand requirements. Steward UNT’s philanthropic visual identity, ensuring cross-platform consistency and high-quality design. Push creative boundaries while honoring the UNT brand’s spirit, tone, and look. Manage multiple design and multimedia projects simultaneously, adapting quickly to changing needs while maintaining quality and timeliness. Balance quick-turn requests with longer-form projects and content series, coordinating with the Creative Director on time/resource allocation. Maintain organized design files, templates, and shared assets for team use. Collaborate with writers and project owners to concept and execute visuals that strengthen messaging. Contribute to ideation and campaign development with visual and strategic insight. Partner with the Creative Director to evolve templates, guidelines, and design solutions.
