Job Summary

The Monitor Technician plays a vital role in providing support services. Key responsibilities include:

• Basic computer keyboarding skills
• Assembling and disassembling patient charts as necessary
• Communicating with other departments regarding ordered tests and procedures
• Restocking supplies as needed

Additionally, the technician will monitor and interpret patient heart rhythms and vital signs, adhering to established algorithm parameters that may trigger alarms. The ability to understand alarms and communicate effectively is essential.

Depending on the specific location, the Monitor Technician may also be tasked with providing continuous observation and surveillance of assigned patients, alerting nursing staff when assistance is required. Following set algorithms, interpreting alarming events, and ensuring appropriate communication is crucial.

Qualifications

• A high school diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED) is mandatory.
• Preferred knowledge includes healthcare, anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, and familiarity with medical equipment and supplies.
