About the Position

Job Opportunity – Registered Nurse / Medical Surgical – Kansas

Start Date: October 19, 2026 (additional orientation dates available: 11/02/2026, 11/16/2026, 11/30/2026)

Location: Topeka, Kansas

Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants

Schedule: 12-hour shifts, 36 hours guaranteed per week; every other weekend rotation; 2 federal holidays per year and select non-essential holidays

Highlights:

• 32-bed post-surgical unit specializing in colorectal surgery and major abdominal procedures including colectomy, bowel resection, ostomy care, and hernia repair
• Diverse case mix including urological procedures, orthopedic surgery, plastic surgery debridements, and specialty wound care with surgical drains
• 26-51 week contract preferred; longer contracts receive priority consideration
• Epic charting system with test-out option available
• Magnet-designated facility with High Reliability Organization culture focused on patient safety and continuous improvement
• Staffing ratio of 1:6; float requirements to other post-surgical and medical surgical inpatient floors

Requirements:

• Active Kansas or Multistate RN license (no exceptions)
• AHA BLS certification required at time of submission
• Minimum 1 year of Medical Surgical experience; progressive care or step-down experience preferred
• ADN or BSN degree
• No first-time travelers; local travelers accepted at same rate
• Vaccination requirements: Immunity status for Hepatitis B, MMR, and Varicella (via titer or proof of vaccination series), TDaP vaccine, TB documentation, and Influenza vaccine or exemption during flu season
