This position averages 20 hours per week and combines student recruitment with leadership development for emerging Jewish leaders.As the Admissions Recruiter, the successful candidate will serve as the primary recruitment representative for the Los Angeles campus and Southern California region, meeting with prospective students both in person and virtually to guide them through the admissions process and explore opportunities for rabbinical education.As the Jewish Ideas Fellowship Director, the successful candidate will oversee HUC's Jewish Ideas Fellowship by designing and managing a leadership development experience for emerging Jewish leaders while cultivating meaningful relationships with fellows, mentors, alumni, faculty, and partner organizations.This position is based in Los Angeles, with an expectation of working on campus approximately 1–2 days per week. Fellowship responsibilities are conducted primarily via Zoom and telephone.Essential Responsibilities- Admissions RecruitmentProspective Student EngagementMeet regularly with prospective students to provide guidance throughout the discernment and admissions process.Conduct outreach to prospective applicants through alumni, current students, and community partners.Coach prospective students as they explore graduate education, rabbinical school, and vocational discernment.Respond to questions regarding HUC academic programs, admissions requirements, and institutional policies.Maintain detailed records of applicant interactions using ActiveCampaign and other recruitment systems.Connect prospective students with HUC classes, programming, and educational opportunities to strengthen their preparation for graduate study.Refer applicants to the Hebrew Learning Support Coordinator, when appropriate, to develop individualized Hebrew learning plans.Connect prospective students with trained alumni mentors who can provide guidance throughout the discernment process.Recruitment Strategy & OutreachPartner with the Associate Director of Recruitment & Partnership Development, Rabbinical School Director, Student Ambassadors, and the Dean of the Los Angeles campus to develop and execute recruitment strategies throughout Los Angeles and Southern California.Build and maintain relationships with synagogues, Jewish organizations, campus partners, and community leaders.Coordinate recruitment events, open houses, admitted student programs, and prospective student visits.Represent HUC at recruitment events, conferences, and community gatherings.Recruitment TravelTravel outside Southern California approximately 2–3 times annually, as needed, to recruit at college campuses, conferences, and Jewish community events.Submit activity and reimbursement reports in accordance with HUC travel policies.Jewish Ideas FellowshipDesign, launch, and manage the Jewish Ideas Fellowship to cultivate emerging Jewish leaders.Recruit, engage, and support fellowship participants throughout the program.Develop relationships with alumni, educators, mentors, and partner organizations to strengthen fellowship programming.Coordinate fellowship communications, marketing, website content, and social media in partnership with the Office of Recruitment and Admissions.Collect, analyze, and report participant demographics, engagement, and program outcomes.Train alumni and partner organizations to support recruitment efforts and leadership development.Mentor fellowship participants as they deepen their Jewish identities and explore their roles as future Jewish leaders.Collaboration & Team ParticipationParticipate in regular Office of Recruitment and Admissions team meetings.Collaborate with colleagues to coordinate admissions activities, marketing initiatives, recruitment travel, and program communications.Perform other related duties as assigned.SupervisionThis position reports to the Associate Director of Recruitment & Partnership Development. Regular supervision meetings will occur one to two times each month, with additional meetings as needed.RequirementsQualificationsEducationOne of the following is required:Ordination (Rabbinical or Cantorial) from an accredited Jewish seminary; orMaster's degree in Jewish Education, Jewish Nonprofit Management, or a closely related field.ExperienceMinimum of two (2) years of experience serving as a Jewish professional within the North American Jewish community.Experience leading groups, fellowships, educational programs, or leadership development initiatives.Experience recruiting, mentoring, coaching, or advising students or emerging leaders preferred.Knowledge, Skills & AbilitiesThe ideal candidate will possess:Strong interpersonal, relationship-building, and coaching skills.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Ability to mentor and develop emerging Jewish leaders.Strong organizational and project management skills.Excellent attention to detail, with accurate documentation and recordkeeping.Ability to manage multiple priorities while working independently.Knowledge of FERPA regulations and the ability to maintain confidential information.Proficiency with CRM systems, Microsoft Office, and virtual meeting platforms.Commitment to providing exceptional customer service and maintaining positive relationships with applicants, students, alumni, and community partners.CompensationPart-Time, Non-Exempt20 hours per week (average)$55.00–$60.00 per hour, commensurate with experienceEmployment term: August 15, 2026 - June 30, 2027Hours worked must be accurately recorded each week in HUC's payroll system.Work EnvironmentThis position follows a hybrid work schedule, requiring an on-campus presence in Los Angeles approximately 1–2 days per week, with the remainder of responsibilities performed remotely.
