Facility Operations Specialist

Washington, DC, United States of America The Facility Operations Specialist has immediate oversight of the facility's day-to-day operations and maintenance needs. Responsibilities Plan and carry out building management and facilities operations and maintenance. Manage and coordinate all activities related to the physical operation, maintenance, in‑house repair and improvements of the facilities, grounds, parking lots, and entry ways. Update, obtain reports, and perform analyses using automated facility management database systems. Develop and plan staffing requirements, work schedules, priorities, training, and evaluation of subordinate staff to improve employee skills. Communicate orally, clearly and concisely to provide information and direction to a wide range of individuals and organizations. Communicate in writing through memos, reports, and e‑mails, clearly and concisely. Requirements Mandatory qualification requirements, including one year time‑in‑grade at the next lower grade level for promotion candidates, must be met within 30 days of the job announcement closing date. Qualifications At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS‑12 level in the Federal Service, providing leadership, direction, planning, management, and administration of complex facilities management functions. Resume must be no more than two pages and should clearly demonstrate how experience aligns with the responsibilities and specialized experience required for the position. It should use detailed, descriptive information about actual experience, not copied language from the announcement. Experience may be paid or unpaid, including volunteer work through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations. Volunteer experience will be considered for credit if it demonstrates the required competencies. Part‑time and unpaid experience will be considered in determining the total number of years and months of experience. Note the number of paid or unpaid hours worked per week.
