Supervising Occupational TherapistProvidence Public Schools District (PPSD) seeks an exceptional Supervising Occupational Therapist who is highly qualified and skillful to join our community of teachers, students and stakeholders. This is an exciting opportunity for teachers who seek a challenging yet rewarding teaching experience.The Supervising Occupational Therapist will be responsible for providing quality occupational therapy services including: assessment, intervention, program planning and implementation, discharge planning and related documentation and communication. Service may take the form of direct, monitored, and consultative approaches. The supervising OTR will provide direct supervision for certified occupational therapy assistants including observation, evaluation for students on COTA caseloads, guidance for therapy activities, goal development for IEPs of students serviced by COTA Staff.We serve approximately 22,000 students at 37 elementary, middle, and high schools. Approximately 55% of students come from homes where English is not the primary language spoken. PPSD is a great place for those who desire an environment that supports their creativity and ingenuity, and respects their credentials and abilities.Reports to: Contingent upon fundingEducation Requirements:License required by the RI Department of Health: Occupational TherapistQualifications:Experience working with students who are moderately/severely disabled preferredMinimum of three (3) years experience with school aged students preferredMinimum of three (3) years experience supervising COTA staff preferredDescription of Duties & Responsibilities:Provide direct occupational therapy services to students consistent with IEP requirementsProvide consultation to classroom teachers and staff and needed and required by IEPsProvide written reports on services provided and/or progress notes as required by the special education officeWillingness to work as an itinerant to cover all components of this assignmentWillingness to work with families of walk-in students on carry-over activities for the home setting and scheduling of therapy sessionsWillingness to complete home instruction for OT servicesCompletion of evaluations in compliance with laws and regulations including: scheduling, working with students, providing written evaluations in a timely fashion, providing goals for implementation when appropriateDocumentation of services for Medicaid purposesDirect supervision and guidance to COTA staff relative to evaluations, IEP goals, treatment strategies, and activities for students assigned to therapy assistant caseloadAny/all duties that may be assigned by the Special Education SupervisorEEO StatementProvidence Public Schools is an equal opportunity/affirmative action employer that is actively seeking to increase minority recruitment among its administrators and teaching staff.
