Facility Supervisor - Casey Community Center

Applications are being accepted by the Department of Parks, Recreation & Culture for part-time Facility Supervisors at the Casey Community Center, one of the most iconic and recognizable landmarks in Gaithersburg. The center offers a variety of community events, programs, and services for all ages, as well as rental space for celebrations, events, or meetings. As a Facility Supervisor, you will help maintain safe and secure operation of the facility and contribute to a positive and enjoyable experience for all who contact or visit the facility. Staff is needed to work assigned shifts on weekday evenings and weekends, as well as to substitute on an as-needed basis. Weekday evening shifts must be able to work 5 p.m. to closing; weekend shifts must be able to work from 8 a.m. to closing. We are looking for individuals who enjoy working with people of diverse ages and backgrounds and are able to interact with customers and staff in a positive, courteous, and respectful manner. Ability to communicate fluently (speak, read, write) in both English and Spanish is preferred. Hours per week will vary depending on operational needs of the facility, but will not exceed an average of 27.5 hours per week. You must be able to work weekends. Starting hourly rate is $18 to $19 per hour, and will be offered at a level consistent with duties assigned and experience and qualifications of the candidate. What you will do with us: Answer telephones, greet visitors and rental patrons, and provide appropriate services, information, or assistance. Assist with special events, activities, and other duties as needed or assigned. Manage and monitor rentals and ensure compliance with facility rules and rental agreement terms. Set up and clean up rooms used for scheduled activities/events and perform other general cleaning and/or maintenance duties. Ensure security of the building before/after working hours. Ensure public-use equipment and supplies are available and functioning properly. Work regular shifts and/or substitute for other Facility Supervisors as needed. Perform routine administrative and other tasks in support of facility projects and programs. Provide outstanding service, pursue continuous improvement, and exceed expectations. What you will need to be considered: Be at least 18 years of age and a high school graduate (or equivalent). Demonstrated professional work habits including punctuality, reliability, dependability and adaptability. Excellent customer service, organizational, time management, and communication (verbal and written) skills. Ability to fluently speak, read, and write in English and Spanish preferred. Previous customer service experience preferred. Basic computer skills (Microsoft 365) and ability to operate standard office equipment. Demonstrated ability to make quick and sound decisions, problem solve, and prioritize. Demonstrated ability to work effectively independently and as part of the team. Physical ability to set-up/clean up rooms for activities, rentals, and meetings (able to lift/carry materials weighing up to 40 pounds) CPR/AED and First Aid certification (may be obtained through the City upon hire). Or any acceptable equivalent combination of education, experience, and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to satisfactorily perform job duties and functions.
