Job Description:\n\nDepartment: Programs\nClassification: Non-exempt\nReports to: Systems Advocacy Supervisor\nStatus: Full-time\nLocation: Anchorage\nCompensation: $30 - $36/hr\n\nPosition Summary: The Case Manager is a full-time, non-exempt position responsible for providing wrap-around case management and supportive services to AWAIC participants, including coordination of resources, information and referrals, and other support as needed. Case Managers perform screenings, intakes, and assessments, and provide crisis intervention and safety planning for victims of domestic violence, sexual assault and stalking (DV/SA/ST). They develop actionable case plans and work with participants to address barriers to safety and/housing transition.\nEssential Functions\nParticipant Advocacy, Case Management & Safety\n\n Provides trauma-informed, participant-centered advocacy and case management services to survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and stalking (DV/SA/ST).\n Conducts intakes, screenings, assessments, eligibility determinations, and ongoing reassessments to identify participant strengths, needs, barriers, and risks.\n Partners with participants to develop and maintain individualized, strengths-based case plans, goals, and safety plans that support participant choice and autonomy.\n Provides crisis intervention, de-escalation, emotional support, problem-solving, and stabilization in response to participant needs and safety concerns.\n Maintains professional boundaries while building supportive, respectful, and empowering relationships with participants.\n\nResource Navigation, Legal Advocacy & Housing Support\n\n Connects participants with housing, healthcare, behavioral health, benefits, employment, education, transportation, legal services, and other community resources.\n Assists with applications, referrals, documentation, scheduling, and other activities necessary to access services and benefits.\n Educates participants about victim rights, civil protective orders, available resources, and the criminal and civil justice systems and provides court accompaniment as assigned.\n Advocates and coordinates with landlords, service providers, healthcare providers, schools, courts, law enforcement, and community partners as authorized by the participant.\n Supports participants in identifying and addressing barriers to safe, stable housing, including housing search, placement, move-in, tenancy, and retention support.\n Coordinates financial assistance and supportive services in accordance with participant goals and applicable program requirements.\n Provides continuity of care and follow-up during program, housing, and service transitions and following program exit as appropriate.\n\nDocumentation, Compliance & Participant Confidentiality\n\n Maintains accurate, timely, objective, and confidential participant records in accordance with AWAIC policies, funding requirements, confidentiality standards, and applicable laws and regulations.\n Completes required case notes, assessments, service and safety plans, releases of information, statistical tracking, and other documentation within established timelines.\n Maintains accurate and complete information within agency databases and monitors assigned caseload documentation to support continuity of care, program outcomes, and grant compliance.\n Maintains current knowledge of applicable program requirements, eligibility standards, funding requirements, and federal and Alaska laws affecting survivors of DV/SA/ST.\n\nTeam & Program Support\n\n Collaborates across AWAIC programs to provide coordinated and consistent participant services.\n Identifies and communicates safety concerns, critical incidents, service gaps, and emerging participant needs to appropriate staff.\n Supports shelter operations, front desk coverage, crisis line response, participant transportation, and community-based services as assigned.\n Participates in case staffing, supervision, team meetings, training, and agency initiatives.\n Facilitates participant groups, workshops, and educational activities as assigned.\n Maintains a safe, respectful, inclusive, and trauma-informed environment for participants, staff, volunteers, and visitors.\n\nCommunity Engagement & Professional Practice\n\n Represents AWAIC professionally through community partnerships, coordinated response efforts, outreach, presentations, meetings, and trainings as assigned.\n Maintains current knowledge of trauma-informed care, victim advocacy, crisis response, housing-focused case management, cultural humility, and emerging practices related to DV/SA/ST services.\n Demonstrates ethical communication, cultural responsiveness, respect for participant autonomy, and commitment to AWAIC’s mission, values, policies, and procedures.\n Travels between AWAIC locations, participant residences, courts, partner agencies, and other service locations as required.\n\nAssigned Program Focuses\nDepending on assignment, the position performs additional duties specific to one or more program areas.\nEmergency Shelter \n\n Provides immediate crisis intervention, stabilization, safety planning, and basic-needs support within a communal shelter environment.\n Conducts shelter intake, orientation, ongoing support, and exit planning.\n Supports transitions from emergency shelter to longer-term housing and community-based services.\n Follows shelter safety procedures, communal living expectations, and emergency response protocols.\n\nTransitional Living\n\n Supports participants in developing long-term housing stability and independent living skills, including budgeting, tenancy, transportation, employment, and resource navigation.\n Coordinates housing assessments, unit inspections, move-ins, maintenance communication, and other housing-related needs.\n Supports participants transitioning from program housing to permanent housing and provides follow-up support as appropriate.\n\nNonresidential Services\n\n Provides community-based, advocacy-focused case management, safety planning, crisis support, legal advocacy, systems navigation, and resource referrals.\n Connects participants with benefits, healthcare, employment, and other community services based on individual goals and needs.\n Maintains flexible participant engagement and provides ongoing follow-up as appropriate.\n\nRapid Rehousing\n\n Provides housing-focused case management to support housing search, placement, stabilization, and long-term retention.\n Assists participants with landlord communication, housing documentation, inspections, lease processes, and other housing-related requirements.\n Coordinates and documents financial assistance in accordance with applicable funding and program requirements.\n\nIntegrated Health \n\n Connects participants with healthcare, behavioral health, and substance use services to support health stabilization, safety, and independence.\n Assists participants in navigating Medicaid, SSDI, primary and specialty care, mental health and substance use assessments, and other complex health systems.\n Develops individualized health plans and coordinates care with community providers to address barriers to accessing and maintaining appropriate services.\n\nKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:\nTrauma-Informed competing demands, and meets established deadlines.\n Uses standard office software, databases, computers, and related technology effectively.\n Maintains accurate, timely, and professional self-awareness, and commitment to continued learning and professional development.\n Maintains consistent and reliable attendance and fulfills assigned responsibilities.\n\nMinimum Qualifications\n\n Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, criminal justice, education, public health, human services, or a related field.\n Holds and maintains a valid driver’s license and driving record that meets AWAIC requirements.\n Meets and maintains all required federal, state, local, and agency background clearance requirements.\n Meets any additional training, certification, or program-specific requirements associated with the assigned program.\n Communicates effectively and professionally, both verbally and in writing.\n Uses computers, standard office software, databases, and office equipment effectively.\n Organizes and prioritizes multiple responsibilities, works effectively under pressure, and meets established deadlines.\n Maintains confidentiality and handles sensitive participant information appropriately.\n Demonstrates the ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds and circumstances.\n\nMinimum Experience\n\n Six months of relevant experience in domestic violence advocacy, sexual assault advocacy, crisis intervention, victim services, case management, housing services, behavioral health, social services, or a related field; or\n Has at least four (4) years of progressively responsible relevant experience in domestic violence or sexual assault advocacy, crisis intervention, victim services, case management, housing services, behavioral health, criminal justice, social services, or a related field in place of a bachelor’s degree.\n Includes at least six (6) months of direct experience working with survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking, or other forms of interpersonal violence within the qualifying experience.\n\nPhysical Requirements & Working Conditions\n\n Regularly sits, stands, walks, reaches, bends, and performs repetitive computer and administrative tasks throughout the workday.\n Lifts, carries, pushes, or pulls materials, donations, supplies, and equipment weighing up to 25 pounds.\n Performs physical tasks associated with donation processing, inventory organization, event setup and cleanup, and movement of supplies.\n Moves throughout office, shelter, event, storage, and community-based environments as required.\n Performs the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.\n\nNote: This job description in no way states or implies that
