Mental Health Coordinator / in Brighton

Overview The Mental Health Coordinator is responsible for providing the clinical oversight of the facility. The Mental Health Coordinator oversees the mental health staff, which includes Therapists, Counselors and Group Facilitators. This role ensures timely implementation, reporting, and documentation of functions including safety, quality improvement, and compliance standards. Essential Job Duties Plan, supervise, coordinate, and manage the clinical services provided by mental health staff at the institution. Assign specific duties and clinical responsibilities to mental health staff in accordance with their position descriptions, education and professional experience. Represent the interests of mental health services with the institution's administrative staff under the direction of the HSA and Director of Operations to facilitate cooperation in the delivery of mental health services. Allocate staff resources in mental health services to ensure institutional needs for clinical and consultative services are met in a timely, professional manner. Use clinical auditing tools to ensure all services are delivered and continually improved. Conduct regular case conferences with mental health staff for supervision and consultation. Review psychiatric case records for discussion and/or correction, as necessary. Be responsible for assignments and reassignments of employee caseload. Schedule staff to provide proper coverage. Conclude disciplinary proceedings when applicable. Respond to emergencies and initiate action as required. Monitor performance of targeted measures by performing comprehensive audits of medical records. Provide support to clinical staff regarding the completeness of content in medical records. Perform quality assurance audits on all medical records. Conduct monthly meetings and attend quarterly MAC meetings. Minimum Education/Experience Requirements Master's degree in psychology, social work or behavioral science field. 2-5 years of experience in the coordination and administration of mental health service delivery systems. 2-5 years of professional experience indicating knowledge of management/supervision techniques, mental health counseling, group and individual psychotherapy, diagnosis and treatment of major mental disorders and/or psychological evaluation techniques. Licensed to practice psychology, social work, or counseling in the state by the appropriate state licensing board. Employment Requirements Must maintain all certifications, educational requirements, licensing, etc. for this position. Current CPR/BLS certification. Current TB test within one year. Adhere to all facility policies and procedures and the Employee Handbook. Willing to assist coworkers and work overtime if required; may act as a resource to other coworkers. Maintain confidentiality, dignity, and security of health records and protected health information in compliance with HIPAA requirements. Security Requirements Must undergo security training and orientation on facility safety policies and procedures. Physical/Mental Requirements This position routinely requires the following: Ability to remain stationary and move/traverse throughout the facility, including stairs. Ability to position oneself in different spaces and convey information in conversations with patients; must exchange accurate information. Ability to identify and detect objects and assess situations from various distances. Ability to stay calm in stressful and demanding situations. Frequent ability to lift and transport objects up to 50 pounds. Work Environment Work is performed inside a correctional facility. Employees may be exposed to risk and/or harm by inmates. Must work in accordance with all security rules and regulations to minimize risk.
