Travel Stepdown Nurse (RN) in Mechanicsville, VA

As a travel nurse in the Cardio-Pulmonary Progressive Care Unit, you'll gain experience in a 27-bed unit requiring continuous cardiac monitoring, working alongside a committed staff and engaging with a diverse patient population. Schedule/Hours:

• 12-hour day shifts
• Every other weekend and major holidays required
• Possibility for weekend blocked schedules

Key Qualifications:

• Active RN license in practicing state or compact license
• At least 1 year of RN experience (Stepdown/progressive care preferred)
• Proficiency with EKG/rhythm strip interpretation (testing at orientation)
• Proven skills in lab draws and peripheral IV starts
• Experience with insulin drips, BiPAP, and managing/titrating cardiac drips: Cardizem, Dobutamine, Dopamine, Nitroglycerin, Amiodarone
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS required; CCRN/PCCN preferred
• Ability to float to progressive, med/surg, or ICU settings as needed

Main Responsibilities:

• Conduct comprehensive assessments and create individualized care plans
• Administer cardiac and critical medications safely
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary care teams and serve as a patient advocate
• Educate patients and families, coordinating care transitions
• Practice according to evidence-based standards and adapt to rapidly changing patient conditions
