Materials Planner

Job Title: Material Expeditor

Job Description

The Material Expeditor ensures the timely delivery of materials and services that support operations and projects. This role works closely with suppliers, carriers, and internal teams to track orders, resolve delivery issues, maintain accurate ERP/MRP data, and minimize supply chain disruptions.

Responsibilities

• Expedite purchase orders from placement through delivery.

• Monitor supplier performance and obtain accurate delivery commitments.

• Identify delivery risks and coordinate recovery actions to prevent delays.

• Work with suppliers, carriers, warehouses, and internal stakeholders to ensure timely and accurate shipments.

• Resolve issues related to shortages, partial shipments, documentation, customs, or quality holds.

• Maintain accurate order status in ERP/MRP systems and provide delivery performance reporting.

• Support inventory management and material availability for production, operations, and projects.

• Assist with process improvements related to supplier performance and supply chain efficiency.

Essential Skills

• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Logistics, or related field; or Associate degree with relevant experience.

• 2+ years of supply chain, logistics, purchasing, planning, or materials experience.

• Experience tracking purchase orders, coordinating shipments, and managing supplier communications.

• Working knowledge of ERP/MRP systems such as SAP, Oracle, Epicor, or similar.

• Proficiency with Excel and basic data analysis.

• Strong organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience in manufacturing, distribution, procurement, or project-based environments.

• Familiarity with supplier scorecards, OTD metrics, and inventory replenishment.

• Experience supporting process improvement initiatives.

Work Environment

This role operates in a corporate office environment at a downtown headquarters location. The standard schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The environment is highly collaborative, with frequent interaction with buyers, planners, materials teams, project managers, suppliers, carriers, and other stakeholders. The opportunity is structured as a long-term engagement and includes paid holidays.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Columbus, OH.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $27.53/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
