The successful candidate will lead mechanical design efforts and collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams to develop commercial systems and components.Why Join Us?Innovative Projects: KBR’s work is at the forefront of engineering, logistics, operations, science, program management, mission IT and cybersecurity solutions.Collaborative Environment: Be part of a dynamic team that thrives on collaboration and innovation, fostering a supportive and intellectually stimulating workplace.Impactful Work: Your contributions will be pivotal in designing and optimizing defense systems that ensure national security and shape the future of space defense.Work Environment:Location: On-site R&D Lab, (*No Telework/hybrid arrangements available)Work hours: 0600-1430, with some overtime, based on mission needsTravel Requirements: 5-10%Working Hours: StandardBasic Compensation:$150,000 - $190,000 USD annuallyThe offered rate will be based on the selected candidate’s knowledge, skills, abilities and/or experience and in consideration of internal parity.Key Responsibilities:Lead mechanical design efforts from concept through final production.Research, design, and evaluate mechanical products and systems to meet operational and performance requirements.Apply knowledge of engineering principles to develop structural components.Solve technical design problems and perform system-level design analyses.Develop mechanical and structural layouts using CAD tools.Conduct feasibility and performance testing on components and systems.Participate in design reviews and support production and integration activities.Work closely with a small team to execute fast paced, short timeline projects, both individually and as a team.Required Qualifications:Active/Current DoD Secret clearance requiredBachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical field.A minimum of 8 years of experience performing mechanical design on complex systems.Experience leading design efforts and mentoring junior engineers.Preferred QualificationsExperience in electronics packaging, including thermal and structural considerations.Familiarity with Space Flight hardware.Strong understanding of the full engineering lifecycle from concept to production.Demonstrated ability to collaborate in multi-disciplinary teams.Experience with Solidworks CAD/CAM tools in 3D modelingExperience in developing 3D models and drawings for fabrication and machiningExcellent written and verbal communication skills.Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.Ready to Make a Difference?If you are excited about making a significant impact in the field of space defense and working on projects that matter, we encourage you to apply and join our team at KBR.
