Endoscopy Technician

Pay Rate: $16.99 - $24.79 Hourly

Position Summary: Assist in the nursing care and preparation of G.I. Lab/Endoscopy Center patients. Function as a member of the procedure team in issuing supplies and instruments to Endoscopists. Ensure adherence to Hospitals and departmental policies and procedures. Patient care assignment may include Neonate Pediatric Adolescent Adult and Geriatric age groups.

Detailed responsibilities:

• Patient safety: Follow patient safety-related policies procedures and protocols
• Professional development: Enhance professional growth and development through participation in educational programs reading current literature attending in-services meetings and workshops
• Patient safety: Demonstrate proactive approach to patient safety by seeking opportunities to improve patient safety through questioning of current policies and processes
• Patient safety: Identify and report/correct environmental conditions and/or situations that may put a patient at undue risk
• Patient safety: Report potential or actual patient safety concerns medical errors and/or near misses in a timely manner
• Patient safety: Encourage patients to actively participate in their own care by asking questions and reporting treatment or situations that they don't understand or may "not seem right"
• Admissions: Assist with patient admission to Admitting and Recovery
• Equipment & supplies: Work with staff team to gather necessary supplies equipment and instruments
• Specimens: Assist in maintenance and care of specimens prepare specimens for laboratory analysis
• Equipment & supplies: Decontaminate all equipment instruments and supplies
• Stock: Perform restocking duties as necessary
• Special procedures: Function as a service coordinator with RN for special procedure preparations
• Preparation: Assist in preparing patient and procedure area prepare and maintain endoscopy video cart light source supplies endoscope instillation pump and lab containers
• Documentation: Document all patient care activity provider and instrument utilization in electronic medical record or hard copy as appropriate complete all billing sheets
• Patient centered med: Adhere to and promote the core expectations of the Patient Centered Medical Home or Patient Centered Specialty Practice as applicable
• Patient transport: Transport patients to and from requesting areas ensure adherence to all safety measures

Qualifications:

Education:

• Essential: High School or GED Equivalent
• Nonessential: Program Graduate Associate Degree

Experience:

• Essential: 6 months of related experience

Credentials:

• Essential: CPR for Healthcare/BLS Prov or Prof Rescuers w/in 30 days

Physical Conditions:

Medium Work: Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

Working conditions:

• Essential: Sig Hazard: Chemicals Bio Hazardous Materials req PPE
• May be required or is required to perform on-call duties
• Tuberculosis testing is completed upon hire and additionally as required
