Schedule: 13-week contract; 36 or 48 hours per week; rotating shifts including 3 weekends per six-week schedule; 2 out of 3 winter holidays required

Highlights:

• Combined pediatric cardiac and medical critical care unit with high census and high acuity
• Advanced care experience including ECMO, VADs, CRRT, and specialized cardiac procedures
• Epic charting system; 24 hours of orientation provided
• Patient ratios of 1:1 or 1:2 depending on acuity; up to 2:1 for high-acuity patients
• Interdisciplinary support including IV teams, respiratory services, rapid response teams, and pharmacy
• May float to NICU and Acute Care Pediatrics based on staffing needs

Requirements:

• Minimum 2 years of pediatric critical care experience required
• Active Virginia RN license or license pending (must be in hand by Wednesday before start date)
• Current BLS and PALS certifications required
• Epic charting system experience required
• Pediatric cardiac experience strongly preferred
• Trauma Level I experience preferred
• Flu vaccine required (no exemptions); COVID-19 vaccine not required
• BSN preferred

Additional Information:

• Maximum 40 hours of approved time off per contract; no time off approved during first 2 weeks
• Unit maintains high census with specialization in both cardiac and medical critical care
• Patient diagnoses include DORV, TOF, HLHS, TGA, heart transplant, TBI, RSV, DKA, seizures, and various post-operative cases including liver and kidney transplants
• Skills include ventilator management, central line care, hemodynamic monitoring, arterial line management, chest tube management, and administration of vasopressors
