ELECTRICAL INSPECTOR (CLASS CODE 2220)

Job Overview Beginning level inspectional and law enforcement work in ensuring compliance with ordinances and established safety standards related to electrical systems, fixtures, and equipment. Additional related work may be required. Responsibilities Ensure compliance with electrical ordinances and safety standards. Obtain International Code Council (ICC) certification as an Electrical Commercial/Residential Inspector during the probationary period (not to exceed one year). If certification is not obtained during probation, certification must be obtained within one year after probation or the employee may be considered for rehire. Use own automobile for work if required; eligible employees will receive a car allowance. Qualifications High School Diploma or GED. Valid Louisiana Driver’s License. At least two (2) years of full‑time experience in residential, commercial, or industrial wiring, or active ICC certification as an Electrical Commercial/Residential Inspector. Familiarity with a wide range of electrical equipment and systems, including multi‑family residential, high‑rise, commercial, and light industrial. Applicants hired between April 1, 2025 and March 31, 2027 are exempt from the requirement to reside in Orleans Parish. Applicants must provide original documents of qualifying credentials prior to start date. Benefits Car allowance for employees who must use their own automobile.
