Quality Inspector 2

Summary A senior level position making final inspection of a wide variety of parts of complicated form with very close tolerances, sub-assemblies and completed units. The primary responsibilities include planning inspection procedures and methods, setting up gauging equipment, devising methods for checking unusual parts, determining allowable variations from standard, and making disposition of rejects. The role also involves training and assisting less experienced inspectors. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Interpret engineering drawings, schematic diagrams, or specifications and confer with management or engineering staff to verify quality and reliability requirements. Select products for inspection and testing at specified stages in the production process; inspect and test products for attributes such as dimensions, performance, mechanical characteristics, and finish requirements. Document finished product status by recording and summarizing raw‑material, in‑process, and finished‑product inspection and physical test data, and update the quality database. Perform audits to ensure compliance with QA Manual requirements. Qualifications Ability to use inspection tools such as calipers, scales, micrometers, height gauges, and flat surfaces. Experience in using a coordinate measuring machine (CMM); able to program and operate a variety of automated and manual digital inspection tools to validate products per drawing and model. Experience with FARO, Light Tables, CMM or similar is required. Proficient user of computer and various software such as word processing, spreadsheets, database, and graphics applications. Experience with CAD software (Catia, SolidWorks, PolyWorks, MeasureMax, PCdmis, etc.). Thorough understanding of manufacturing processes. Knowledge of standard drafting format and GD&T. Experience with first‑article inspections (FAI), use of Net Inspect and InspectionXpert preferred. Coordinate with other departments/individuals to develop and refine current processes. Requirements Education and/or Experience: An associate’s degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a 2‑year college or technical school, and a minimum of 5 years related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Language Skills Ability to read and interpret documents such as statutory rule, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees. Proficiency in Spanish and/or Japanese desired. Reasoning Ability Apply common sense to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form and deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Customer Orientation Demonstrate concern and take actions to meet requirements and high quality standards of both internal and external customers, display courtesy and sensitivity, manage difficult situations, meet commitments, respond promptly to customer needs, and solicit customer feedback for improvement. Supervisory Responsibilities This position has no supervisory responsibilities. Physical Demands Frequent standing, walking, sitting, talking, and hearing. Close vision required.
