Bigfix Technical Specialist

As BigFix Technical Specialist, you manage the design, implementation and maintenance of the BigFix environment. BigFix is a systems-management software product used for managing and reporting on ~20,000 servers running Windows, Linux/UNIX. BigFix provides operational efficiencies and automation for: patch management, software distribution, systems configuration, security compliance, hardware and software inventory, and reporting functionality.

Other responsibilities include keeping updated on new changing enterprise software features on a regular basis to leverage the best of breed tools, keeping the latest versions of software through change controlled patching, diagnosing, monitoring, and troubleshooting system performance. You will also be involved in projects as a team member and drive forward internal project initiatives. Additionally, you will maintain and monitor compliance to corporate security policies and ensure all corporate processes are adhered to, ensuring changes to the infrastructure are fully documented following the best practice principles of ITIL.

Education (degree/diploma): Bachelor's or advanced degree in Computer Science or related field required; experience and/or appropriate certifications may be substituted for degree.

Experience: 3 to 5 years work experience with systems management in a global production environment, prior experience in large global enterprise environments desired (10,000+ servers), ability to troubleshoot within the Windows, UNIX, VMWare platforms, excellent project management skills and the ability to handle multiple complex projects simultaneously, excellent attention to details.

Knowledge and skills (general and technical): knowledge of BigFix, strong scripting skills, manage escalations of incidents issues coordinating resource appropriately, investigate and diagnose complex service issues, working with users, other staff and suppliers as appropriate. Resolve such issues to maintain overall service performance and meet SLA deadlines. Investigate, assess and architect new technical features to stabilize or exploit existing technology investments. Display ability to cost solutions and identify cost savings. Input to the design of global 'consistent repeatable processes'. Deep troubleshooting skill sets, vendor incident and relationship management, cross platform knowledge – Unix (Solaris/Linux), Windows, VMWare, engineering documentation practices – Visio, Office, knowledge base, change control – service desk.

Others: flexibility to work after normal business hours. BigFix inventory knowledge would be an advantage. BigFix Insights knowledge would be an advantage. 3rd party tool integration using API would be an advantage.
