Product Manager, Consumer E-Commerce Platform

We build smart systems and infrastructure for homes, businesses, and municipalities that transform food scraps from landfill-bound waste into valuable resources, including chicken feed. Tens of thousands of Mill’s residential food recyclers are already helping households divert millions of pounds of food scraps every year, paving the way for our upcoming launch of Mill Commercial—the industry’s first end-to-end solution for managing, understanding, and preventing food waste in commercial environments (e.g. grocery, restaurants, food services). At Mill, we are passionate about building easy-to-use, beautifully designed technologies that keep food in the food system and out of landfills.About the RoleWe're seeking a Product Manager for our Consumer Platform team who will drive the performance of our e-commerce technology stack. In this role, you'll oversee critical platform components including our e-commerce platform, admin portal, order management system, and integrations with internal and external systems, all focused on accelerating growth and improving the customer experience.Key ResponsibilitiesOwn the end to end performance and management of our Consumer ecommerce platform, enabling new capabilities and features that advance the growth rate of our Consumer business.Own the product vision for our customer account system, including authentication, personalization, and preference management across consumer and commercial businessDesign and implement new customer onboarding and account management needs for new distribution channels, including digital and brick-and-mortar retailersServe as the primary liaison between technology teams and internal stakeholders including Order Management, Inventory, Fulfillment, Finance, Accounting, and Customer ServiceDevelop integration strategies to ensure seamless data flow between customer-facing applications and backend systemsDesign and build the technical architecture that enables complex product bundling, dynamic pricing, and flexible promotion strategies across product categories for subscriptions and purchasesChampion platform improvements that reduce technical debt while enhancing conversion, retention, and operational efficiencyCreate and maintain a comprehensive platform roadmap aligned with business objectives and stakeholder needsQualifications5+ years of product management experience in e-commerce platforms or retail technologyDemonstrated experience optimizing e-commerce, accounting, and payment platforms (e.g., Shopify, Stripe, NetSuite, custom solutions)Strong understanding of account systems, identity management, and customer data platformsExperience with order management systems and understanding of e-commerce operationsProven ability to translate business requirements into technical specificationsExcellent stakeholder management skills with ability to balance competing prioritiesTechnical background sufficient to collaborate effectively with engineering and data teamsProven track record of effectively managing engineering teams using Agile methodologies, including creating and maintaining JIRA boards, sprint planning, and fostering a motivated, high-performing team cultureBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business or related field (or equivalent experience)Ideal CandidateHas successfully managed customer backend accounts and e-commerce platformsUnderstands payment processing, fraud prevention, and security considerations for e-commerceHas experience working closely with finance and accounting teams to align on backend product requirementsExperience implementing and optimizing microservices architecture for platform flexibilityKnowledge of API design patterns and experience with headless commerce architecturesHas built effective bridges between technical and non-technical stakeholders across the organizationThe estimated base salary range for this position is $140k-$160K, which does not include the value of benefits or a potential equity grant. A wide range of factors are considered in making compensation decisions, including but not limited to skill sets, market conditions, experience and training, licensure and certifications, and business and organizational needs. At Mill, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role.
