Job Summary Provides direct nursing care in accordance with established policies, procedures and protocols of the healthcare organization. Utilizes standards of medical‑surgical nursing practice to increase quality of care and quality of life for patients, families and significant others. Advocates, develops individualized care plans, performs bedside assessment, nursing diagnosis, plans interventions and evaluates outcomes. Responsibilities Uses standards of medical‑surgical nursing practice to increase quality of care and quality of life for the patient, family, and significant other(s) by systematically evaluating the quality and effectiveness of nursing practice. Establishes effective relationships and serves as an advocate with patients, families, and significant others to facilitate development of a unique care plan. Uses the nursing process to develop and implement the plan of care, collects assessment data, determines nursing diagnoses, identifies expected patient outcomes, implements interventions, and evaluates outcomes. Develops assessment and management strategies based on consideration of physical, functional, cultural, social, economic, developmental, spiritual, vocational, and leisure dimensions of human responses to health problems. Demonstrates knowledge of the impact of illness and each patient’s status across various dimensions. Utilizes leadership skills by coordinating and collaborating with the patient, family, significant others, communities, and inter‑professional team. Utilizes effective communication for culturally sensitive, ethical, legal, holistic, informed, compassionate, humane decision making within available resources. Educates patients, families, and significant others about measures that promote health, comfort, and maintenance. Fosters a healthy work environment by serving as a mentor and role model for nursing colleagues, students, and others. Applies evidence‑based practice and scientific knowledge to medical‑surgical nursing practice. Works in a constant state of alertness and safe manner. May perform point‑of‑care testing according to policies and procedures. Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications Graduate of an accredited school of nursing or education equivalency for licensing. No experience required. Physical Requirements Constant use of speech to share information through oral communication. Constant standing and walking. Frequent lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 0‑25 lbs. Frequent sitting, reaching and keyboard use/data entry. Frequent use of vision and depth perception. Frequent use of smell to detect odors. Frequent use of hearing for oral communication and alarms. Occasional lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 25‑50 lbs. Occasional lifting/moving of patients. Occasional bending, stooping, kneeling, squatting, twisting, gripping, and repetitive foot/leg and hand/arm movements. Occasional driving. Rare crawling and running. Licensing and Certifications State of Illinois: Basic Life Support – HealthCare Provider (BLS HCP) from the American Heart Association (AHA) and Registered Professional Nurse (RN) licensed by Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR). State of Missouri: Basic Life Support – HealthCare Provider and Registered Nurse (RN) licensed by the Missouri Division of Professional Registration. State of Oklahoma: Basic Life Support – HealthCare Provider and RN licensed by the Oklahoma Board of Nursing (OBN). Also acceptable: RN issued by Compact State. State of Wisconsin: Basic Life Support – HealthCare Provider and RN licensed by Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services. Also acceptable: RN issued by Compact State. Shift and Schedule Day Shift : 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM. 36 hours weekly with rotating schedule and self‑scheduling flexibility. Every 3rd weekend, regional holiday schedule. No on‑call requirements. Compensation Hourly: $31.21 – $49.94. Sign‑on bonus available for eligible external candidates (internal candidates may check with recruiter).
