Opportunity:

RN - Labor and Delivery

Job Details:

• Day shift hours from 6:45 AM to 7:15 PM and night shift hours from 6:45 PM to 7:15 AM
• Weekend rotation every 4th weekend
• Holiday expectations every other holiday
• No on-call responsibilities
• RTO approved up to 7 days
• Schedule is created by Lead RN on a 6-week cycle, received 2 weeks prior to schedule start
• Minimum 2 years of LDRP experience required
• Required certifications: BLS, NRP, and intermediate or advanced fetal monitoring
• EMR experience with EPIC preferred
• Work with IV pumps (Alaris), medication dispensing (Pyxis), and monitors (QS Centricity)
• Care for patients 32 weeks and above, majority lower risk
• Manage conditions including hypertension, magnesium administration, medication management for substance abuse, epidurals, elevated BMI, and diabetes
• Perform cervical exams, amnio infusions, epidural assistance, fetal monitoring, IV starts and management, Pitocin administration, baby catching and receiving, APGAR scoring, and basic breastfeeding education
• Continue post-delivery care for patients in the same room through discharge
• Experience with post-women's surgeries preferred
• Must be comfortable with all aspects of postpartum care from transition to discharge for mother and baby
• Patient ratios: 1:1 laboring, 1:2 active labor, 1:3 couplets
• Support staff includes 2 techs, charge nurse who takes patients, phlebotomy, L&D anesthesia on call, NNP 24/7, OBGYN on call, RT 24/7, hospitalist 24/7, and lactation consultant available during the day
• No floating required

Facility:

This facility is a 131-bed hospital and Level IV Trauma Center that also serves as a Primary Stroke Center. The Labor and Delivery unit features 12 LDRP rooms, 2 triage rooms, 2 operating rooms, and a 10-bed Level II NICU, averaging 60 to 80 births per month. The unit is well-supported with around-the-clock access to NNPs, hospitalists, respiratory therapy, and on-call OBGYN and anesthesia services.
