Mechanic Helper Payrate and Hours
- Payrate: $18-$22/hr DOE
- Hours: Mon-Fri 8am-5pm, depending on company business needs
Mechanic Helper Job Summary
The Mechanic Helper assists mechanics and technicians in the inspection, maintenance, repair, and servicing of vehicles, equipment, or machinery. This position supports daily shop operations by preparing tools and materials, maintaining a clean work environment, and performing basic maintenance tasks under the supervision of experienced mechanics.
Mechanic Helper Key Responsibilities
- Assist mechanics with routine maintenance and repair work on vehicles, equipment, or machinery.
- Hand tools, equipment, and parts to mechanics as needed.
- Clean and organize work areas, tools, and shop equipment.
- Perform basic maintenance tasks such as checking fluid levels, changing oil, replacing filters, and lubricating moving parts.
- Assist with tire changes, battery replacements, and other minor repairs.
- Load and unload materials, parts, and supplies.
- Maintain inventory of tools, parts, and shop supplies.
- Operate basic shop equipment safely and efficiently.
- Follow all company safety policies and procedures.
- Conduct general housekeeping duties to ensure a safe and organized work environment.
- Report equipment issues or safety concerns to supervisors.
Mechanic Helper Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Previous mechanical experience is a plus but not required.
- Basic knowledge of tools and mechanical systems.
- Ability to learn and follow instructions.
- Strong work ethic and willingness to develop technical skills.
