About The Family & Intercultural Resource Center (FIRC)

Since 1993, FIRC has worked to ensure that everyone can create and maintain a life in Summit County, Colorado. As the county's only nonprofit social services agency, FIRC provides wraparound services that help one in three residents afford healthy food and housing, navigate healthcare challenges, and build the connections and stability they need to thrive. About The Role

The Executive Director’s primary responsibility is to maintain FIRC as a strong, sustainable, and well-regarded resource to the Summit County community. Specifically, the Executive Director is responsible for:

1. Ensuring that FIRC makes consistent progress toward achieving the organization’s strategic goals and overall mission, while upholding its core values,
2. Fundraising with a focus on major gifts from individual and institutional donors,
3. Leading advocacy efforts, building community partnerships, and facilitating FIRC’s role as a neutral convener for the Summit County community,
4. Managing the organization's operations, finances, and staff

The Executive Director leads all FIRC functions (Finance, Development, Operations, and Programs), managing an annual budget of $6-$7 million and a staff of 30-32. The head of each function reports directly to the Executive Director. This position reports to the FIRC Board of Directors, which conducts the Executive Director's annual performance review.

This full-time position is based at FIRC's new building in Breckenridge, CO. The role requires weekday work and a steady in-office presence, generally Monday through Thursday, balanced with regular travel across the county for community meetings, site visits, and evening or weekend commitments as needed. In-person leadership in the community is just as vital to this role as is its visibility throughout Summit County.

Core Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership & Community Advocacy

• Lead the implementation and ongoing evolution of FIRC's strategic plan in response to the community's shifting needs.
• Serve as the primary champion for key community issues, including food equity and housing stabilization, healthcare navigation, parenting support, and mental health resources.
• Facilitate FIRC's role as a neutral, trusted convener in Summit County, building coalitions with regional nonprofits, local officials, and food and health networks to coordinate services and expand shared funding opportunities.

Diversified Fund Development & External Relations

• Partner with the Board and the Philanthropy and Communications Director to design and execute a comprehensive revenue strategy to support the $6-$7 million operating budget.
• Personally lead the engagement, cultivation, and direct solicitation of major individual donors, corporate partners, and institutional foundations.
• Act as the primary ambassador for FIRC, effectively communicating its impact to the media, public officials, philanthropic networks, and community stakeholders.
• Build and maintain relationships with local, state, and federal government representatives.
• Represent FIRC on relevant external boards, coalitions, or advisory groups that raise the organization's profile and strengthen community ties.

Fiscal Stewardship & Operational Oversight

• Partner with Finance leadership to maintain rigorous fiscal controls, ensure audit readiness, and implement forward-looking financial strategies to protect organizational sustainability.
• Provide high-level oversight of FIRC’s social programs, food bank, and thrift store operations, maximizing both community impact and earned revenue.
• Maintain a transparent, productive partnership with the Board of Directors, equipping them with the data and insight needed for strong governance.

People, Culture & Equity Leadership

• Supervise, coach, and support senior leadership team members, fostering a culture of professional growth, clear accountability, and high staff retention.
• Model and champion FIRC’s collaborative, transparent, and input-oriented workplace culture across all staff members.
• Ensure a deep institutional commitment to advancing cultural competency, language justice, and equity within both internal operations and external service delivery.

Qualifications And Experience

• College degree required. A Master's degree in Social Work, Public Policy, Nonprofit Organizational Management, or a related field is preferred. Candidates without an advanced degree who have comparable experience in a related field will also be considered.
• Minimum of 5 years of senior organizational leadership experience, ideally within a non-profit human services sector or community resource center of similar scale.
• Demonstrated success in securing and growing philanthropic support through foundations, corporations, government grants, and comfort in solicitation of major gifts, and individual donor cultivation.
• Experience operationalizing big ideas, managing complex multi-million-dollar budgets, and applying forward-thinking strategies for nonprofit revenue growth.
• Familiarity with local public policy mechanics, coalition-building, and navigating complex community dynamics as a neutral convener.
• A proven history of building highly motivated, cohesive teams, reducing turnover, and leading with an open, collaborative style.
• Deep commitment to the stability and wellbeing of Summit County's workforce and residents, with an understanding of the wraparound human services model.

Compensation And Benefits

The compensation for this role is anticipated to range from $160,000 to $185,000 per year, commensurate with experience. FIRC offers a competitive benefits package, including:

• Five weeks of paid time off per year (flexible and fixed), and additional personal time off as well as paid holidays. Time off accrual rate increases with tenure.
