Contract Review Specialist
The Contract Review Specialist plays a critical role in ensuring that customer purchase orders, contractual requirements, technical documentation, and quality specifications are thoroughly reviewed and accurately captured before orders are entered and released to production. In this full-time, non-exempt position, you serve as a key liaison between customers and internal teams, making sure all technical, processing, regulatory, quality, testing, and certification requirements are clearly identified, documented, and communicated to support safe, compliant, and efficient aerospace manufacturing operations.
Responsibilities
- Review customer purchase orders, contracts, statements of work, and supporting documentation for completeness, accuracy, and consistency.
- Verify customer requirements, specification revisions, engineering drawings, and special-process requirements such as plating, coating, masking, testing, inspection, and certifications.
- Ensure all applicable aerospace, customer, industry, and regulatory requirements are properly identified, documented, and communicated.
- Enter, update, and maintain contract-review and order information within the ERP/MRP system and related manufacturing software.
- Identify discrepancies, missing information, conflicting requirements, and potential risks among purchase orders, drawings, specifications, and customer requirements before work begins.
- Coordinate with customers and internal departments, including quality, engineering, production, and customer service, to resolve contract discrepancies prior to releasing orders to production.
- Confirm that appropriate engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical data packages have been provided or are available internally for each order.
- Verify that specification revisions are accurate, current, and aligned with customer and regulatory requirements.
- Ensure compliance with customer specifications, AS9100 standards, Nadcap requirements, and internal procedures throughout the contract review process.
- Review customer approval requirements, frozen-process restrictions, and any special conditions that affect production or quality.
- Determine when First Article Inspection, testing, or certification is required and ensure these requirements are clearly documented.
- Confirm that material-traceability requirements are identified, maintained, and properly recorded in production travelers and work orders.
- Ensure all required documentation, including specifications, certifications, and instructions, accompanies production travelers and work orders.
- Serve as a liaison among customers, quality, engineering, production, and customer service teams to facilitate clear communication of contract requirements.
- Clearly communicate contract details, technical requirements, and quality expectations to production personnel and supporting departments.
- Coordinate customer clarification requests, contract modifications, and change orders, ensuring updates are accurately reflected in systems and documentation.
- Assist with customer audits and respond to contract-related inquiries in a professional and timely manner.
- Assist in developing, refining, and maintaining contract-review procedures and work instructions to support consistent, high-quality processes.
- Participate in root-cause investigations related to contract-review errors and contribute to corrective and preventive actions.
- Identify opportunities to improve contract-review accuracy, efficiency, and throughput, and support continuous improvement initiatives.
- Support internal audits and corrective-action activities related to contract management, documentation control, and compliance.
- Manage a high volume of transactions and competing priorities while maintaining accuracy, meeting deadlines, and supporting customer responsiveness.
- Contribute to a collaborative, quality-focused culture within a growing aerospace manufacturing environment.
Essential Skills
- Experience in customer service, logistics, operations, contract review, order management, or account management within aerospace manufacturing, metal finishing, or a special-process environment.
- Demonstrated ability to review customer agreements, purchase orders, statements of work, and supporting documentation for accuracy and completeness.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify discrepancies, missing information, conflicting requirements, and potential risks before work begins.
- Proven experience in contract administration, contract review, and document control within a manufacturing or aerospace setting.
- Ability to review and interpret technical drawings, specifications, revision levels, and customer documentation.
- Working knowledge of AS9100 standards, Nadcap requirements, and customer-specific aerospace specifications.
- Experience using ERP/MRP systems, production-scheduling systems, or related manufacturing software for order entry and contract management.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage a high volume of transactions and competing priorities while maintaining accuracy.
- Solid analytical, project-management, and problem-solving abilities applied to process management and continuous improvement.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate technical and contractual information clearly.
- Ability to communicate effectively with customers and internal stakeholders and to serve as a liaison between multiple departments.
- Demonstrated follow-through and reliability in meeting deadlines and supporting established processes.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, for data analysis, reporting, and documentation.
- Comfort working within structured processes and quality systems in an aerospace manufacturing environment.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Associate or bachelor's degree in business, supply chain management, operations, logistics, or a related discipline is preferred.
- Previous supervisory or leadership experience is preferred and will be beneficial in coordinating cross-functional activities.
- Experience supporting aerospace OEMs, Tier 1 suppliers, or defense contractors is strongly preferred.
- Experience in project coordination, project management, and order processing in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Experience in relationship management and customer relationship management, with the ability to manage expectations and resolve issues.
- Experience in process management and continuous improvement initiatives within a quality-focused organization.
- Comfortable assisting with customer audits and responding to contract-related inquiries.
- Ability to work collaboratively with quality, engineering, production, and customer service teams to support shared goals.
- Strong interpersonal skills and a professional demeanor when interacting with internal and external stakeholders.
Work Environment
This is a full-time, non-exempt, on-site position in an aerospace manufacturing environment, operating on a standard daytime schedule Monday through Friday for approximately 40 hours per week. You work closely with quality, engineering, production, and customer service teams in a structured, process-driven setting that relies on ERP/MRP and production-scheduling systems as core tools. Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $24.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
