Essential Duties & Responsibilities Sales & Business Development
- Actively solicit, qualify, and convert small group and meeting opportunities in support of hotel revenue goals.
- Manage the full sales cycle for assigned business, including prospecting, client needs assessment, proposals, site inspections, negotiation, contracting, closing, detailing, execution, follow up, and rebooking.
- Maintain an active sales pipeline and consistently follow up on prospective and tentative business to maximize conversion.
- Develop a thorough understanding of client needs and effectively communicate the hotel's value proposition.
- Demonstrate strong negotiation and closing skills while balancing client expectations, hotel profitability, and operational capabilities.
- Prepare and present professional proposals, contracts, presentations, and other sales materials accurately and timely.
- Conduct professional and persuasive hotel site inspections and client presentations designed to showcase the property and convert prospective business.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships that support repeat business, referrals, and long-term account development.
- Consistently pursue rebooking opportunities following successful programs and maintain proactive communication with past clients to generate future business.
- Identify opportunities to expand existing client relationships and capture additional hotel revenue.
- Participate in industry organizations, networking opportunities, and other business development activities when appropriate.
- Understand monthly forecasting processes and support departmental revenue and sales goals.
- Partner with the Director of Sales and Revenue team to understand hotel business needs, available dates, pricing strategy, and opportunities to maximize revenue.
- Ensure groups meet or exceed contractual revenue expectations while maintaining a high level of service execution and meeting planner satisfaction.
- Optimize guest room, meeting room, food and beverage, and other revenue opportunities while balancing operational feasibility and client expectations.
- Maintain awareness of hotel occupancy, business patterns, need dates, and other factors that influence sales strategy.
- Exercise sound business judgment when evaluating opportunities, negotiating terms, and making recommendations regarding prospective business.
- Serve as a primary point of contact for assigned clients throughout the sales and event lifecycle.
- Effectively manage banquet event orders, group resumes, rooming information, and other event documentation with a high level of accuracy, detail, and follow through.
- Proactively communicate operational changes, updates, special requests, and group needs to all relevant departments.
- Monitor group room blocks, pickup, VIP arrivals, meeting requirements, and event flow to support operational readiness.
- Collaborate closely with Culinary and Banquet teams to develop creative event experiences while balancing client expectations, operational execution, and profitability.
- Partner closely with Banquets, Front Office, Housekeeping, Engineering, and other operational departments to ensure successful event execution.
- Work collaboratively with outside vendors when applicable to ensure successful event execution and guest satisfaction.
- Support initiatives to improve meeting planner evaluation scores and the overall guest experience.
- Maintain consistent client communication before, during, and following events to ensure expectations are met and opportunities for future business are identified.
- Proactively address client concerns and operational challenges while protecting the client relationship and the hotel's business interests.
- Demonstrate the ability to quickly evaluate sales and operational challenges and make sound business decisions in a timely manner.
- Maintain professionalism and composure while managing multiple sales opportunities, groups, deadlines, and operational demands.
- Demonstrate strong ownership and follow through from initial client contact through execution and post event follow up.
- Maintain accurate and timely client, sales, and event information within applicable hotel sales systems.
- Collaborate effectively with Sales leadership and hotel departments to support overall property goals.
- Comply with attendance expectations and maintain schedule flexibility based on business demands, client needs, and event activity.
- Perform any other job-related duties as assigned.

- Build relationships quickly and confidently communicate value to prospective and existing clients.

- Prior hospitality sales experience required, preferably within catering sales, group sales, executive meetings, or a comparable hotel sales environment.
- Minimum one year of hospitality experience required.
- Experience participating in the sales cycle from initial inquiry and qualification through proposal development, negotiation, contracting, execution, and follow up strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated experience building and maintaining client relationships preferred.
- Experience working in full service hotels or high volume group environments preferred.
- Experience at a hotel of similar size and complexity preferred.
- High School Diploma required; Bachelor's Degree preferred.
- Thorough knowledge of sales techniques, including prospecting, negotiation, and strong closing skills.
- Demonstrated ability to conduct professional and persuasive hotel site inspections and client presentations.
- Proven ability to build long term client relationships and consistently pursue repeat and rebooked business.
- Strong understanding of the sales cycle, including qualification, proposal development, negotiation, contracting, execution, follow up, and rebooking.
- Ability to identify client needs and effectively communicate the hotel's value proposition.
- Strong business acumen with an understanding of revenue goals, profitability, and hotel business needs.
- Strong computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Delphi or similar sales systems.
- Understanding of hotel operations and cross departmental coordination.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple sales opportunities, groups, and operational priorities simultaneously.
- Ability to communicate effectively with clients, prospective clients, operational leaders, and hotel associates at all levels.
- Strong problem solving and decision making skills.
- Ability to execute action plans and adapt quickly to changing client and operational needs.
- Ability to work effectively under deadlines and time constraints.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate sales and event documentation.
- Open availability, including weekends and varied schedules based on business demands, client needs, and event activity.
