Experience the impact you can make supporting students as a Special Education Teacher on a contract assignment in a self-contained classroom environment. Based at a single school site, you’ll have the opportunity to work closely with students who thrive with individualized instruction and tailored support. The start date and hours per week will be determined during the selection process, allowing for discussion of your availability and preferences.
What We’re Looking For:
- Active Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with LBS1 endorsement.
- Prior experience working as a Special Education Teacher in a school setting preferred.
- Strong understanding of IEP process, compliance, and special education law.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to build rapport with students, families, and team members.
- Confidence managing a caseload (anticipated self-contained) and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.
- Organized, flexible, and passionate about supporting diverse learners.
Daily Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) in compliance with federal and state guidelines.
- Provide targeted instruction, accommodations, and modifications based on student needs.
- Monitor student progress and maintain accurate documentation.
- Foster a positive, inclusive classroom environment for students with varying exceptionalities.
- Collaborate with general education teachers, related service providers, and administration.
- Participate in team meetings, trainings, and ongoing professional development opportunities.
- Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student success and growth.
