An exciting opportunity awaits for an experienced Special Education Teacher to work as a Learning Behavior Specialist in an elementary school setting. This onsite contract position covers the upcoming academic year, running from August 17th through the end of the school year, with a weekly schedule of 33.75 hours (8:00 AM – 3:15 PM). The school is located near Bolingbrook, IL.
You will be working with a dedicated group of 4th and 5th grade students in a self-contained classroom. Specifically, your caseload will include 11 fifth graders and 6 fourth graders for reading instruction, and 8 and 5 students for math instruction, respectively. The majority of students have individualized education program (IEP) goals focused on reading and math. Additionally, all students are mainstreamed with general education peers for specials, lunch, recess, social studies, and science, providing an inclusive environment while supporting each learner's unique needs.
Qualifications:
- Valid Illinois Professional Educator License with LBS1 endorsement
- Background in developing and implementing IEPs
- Solid understanding of special education laws and best practices
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
Responsibilities:
- Deliver small group reading and math instruction to students on your caseload
- Align instruction with individual IEP goals and track student progress
- Work collaboratively with general education teachers and related service providers to support inclusion and positive student outcomes
- Attend IEP meetings, maintain accurate records, and communicate regularly with families regarding student progress
