Director, Employer Engagement

Role Description

The Director, Employer Engagement will be the engine behind our efforts to build, grow, and deepen relationships with employers. You will manage both ends of the partnership lifecycle:

• Sourcing and qualifying new employer partners through targeted outreach.
• Nurturing active partners to deepen their investment in AP Career Kickstart and emerging courses.
• Identifying and vetting employer representatives to serve on advisory committees for AP.
• Synthesizing patterns from employer conversations into strategic recommendations.

Your work will help hundreds of thousands of students earn industry-recognized credentials while in high school and build a stronger, more inclusive talent pipeline for one of the nation's fastest-growing sectors.

You will build/maintain a portfolio of healthcare employer partners focused on the following responsibilities:

• Strengthen Partner Retention and Visibility (35%):
  • Cultivate and retain a portfolio of active employer partners in key industries.
  • Recognize and elevate partner contributions through visibility opportunities.
  • Conduct regular check-ins to assess satisfaction and gather feedback.
  • Guide partners to expand involvement across multiple pathways.
• Drive Employer Pipeline Growth (30%):
  • Build, manage, and grow your own employer pipeline.
  • Design a prospecting strategy that combines outbound outreach with inbound interest.
  • Source and qualify employer representatives for advisory committees.
  • Execute multichannel outreach campaigns to elevate brand awareness.
  • Develop Executive Briefings for College Board senior leaders.
• Co-Create Work-Based Learning Opportunities (20%):
  • Engage employer partners in developing "day in the life" videos and work-based learning experiences.
  • Support employers in sharing relevant training materials with the AP New Course Development team.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure co-created materials align with AP Career Kickstart goals.
  • Monitor student engagement and feedback to improve employer-developed resources.
• Internal Enablement (15%):
  • Serve as College Board's internal subject matter expert on employer needs.
  • Synthesize employer feedback to inform course design and broader strategy.
  • Deliver regular insights reports and facilitate feedback sessions.
  • Document and share insights that influence program design.

Qualifications

• 8–10 years of experience in employer partnerships, business development, consultative sales, or a strategic advisory role.
• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Experience in healthcare, engineering, manufacturing, marketing, or sales sectors is a significant advantage.
• Demonstrated persistence and urgency in pursuing ambitious outcomes.
• Ability to synthesize employer and market intelligence into strategic recommendations.
• Strong consultative and advisory skills.
• Experience sourcing and managing stakeholders for advisory committees.
• Strong background in content co-creation.
• Strong attention to detail and accountability for follow-through.
• Comfort using Salesforce, Microsoft Suite, and other CRM tools.
• Adaptability in a fast-paced, changing environment.
• Willingness to travel ~12–15 times per year.
