Sr Manager, Product Category Management, Generic Pharmaceuticals

Job Overview This position is fully accountable to lead the highly complex product category of Generic Pharmaceuticals and serves as the primary support to the manager. The role includes leading supplier partner relationships, planning marketing and sales efforts, and developing plans to increase sales, market share, and profitability. Key Responsibilities Category Management Ownership of all activities related to Generic Pharmaceutical category performance. Sales and market share analysis; identify underperforming categories. Develop plans and programs to drive sales and market share. Provide strategic guidance on product additions and line extensions. Manage relationships with key manufacturer partners, including partnership program participation, national sales meeting attendance, and price negotiations. Build marketing, advertising, and business plans with manufacturer partners. Manage growth incentive/rebate programs and quarterly rebate report updates to senior management. Responsible for annual product RFP process and cost book maintenance. New Product Activities Full accountability for the new product submission process. Review supplier information, determine acceptance, pricing, forecast, and opening order quantities. Oversee new item code creation, web attributes, descriptions, and catalog copy. Ensure accurate onboarding of new supplier business and regulatory terms. Work with suppliers to develop a promotional plan for successful launches. Current Product Line Management Determine featured products for channel media; work with associates to produce layouts. Negotiate buying deals with suppliers and communicate implementation to Inventory Management. Maintain marketing product classifications and item descriptions. Accountable for A-system and e-commerce classifications, item descriptions, and images. Manage SKU optimization and non-saleable pool resolution. Channel Marketing Oversee layout and presentation for categories in all channel media and marketing platforms. Resolve issues within established deadlines. Business Acumen Full understanding of P&L and financial metrics. Make decisions that support overall business strategy. Other Participate in special projects and perform other duties as required. Required Skills and Competencies Strong PC skills including Microsoft Word and Excel. Excellent analytical, communication, and multi-tasking skills. Leadership skills: attract, retain, motivate, develop and mentor team members for high performance. Outstanding verbal and written communication, presentation, and public speaking skills. Independent decision making, analysis, and problem solving; interpret and act on financial information; plan and manage complex projects. Strong negotiation skills and relationship management; influence, build relationships, manage conflict, navigate politics. Minimum Qualifications 10+ years of increasing responsibility and complexity. 5+ years of combined marketing and/or sales experience. 3+ years of management experience. Bachelor’s degree (equivalent) required; Master’s degree a plus. Travel & Physical Demands Less than 10% travel; office environment. Salary and Benefits Salary range: $113,962 – $178,067. Eligible for a bonus (not reflected in posted range).
