Accounting AssistantThe Accounting Assistant functions under the supervision and guidance of the Controller. The Accounting Assistant provides support to the Accounting Department by assisting with day-to-day financial operations. This role is designed to provide a student or entry-level professional with exposure to accounting functions in a healthcare setting, while developing skills in accounts payable, reconciliations, and general ledger support.Essential Job Functions include, but are not limited to:Satisfies Core Competencies Accepts responsibility for meeting the standards of the professional, ethical, and relevant legislated requirements.Accounts Payable Support: Assist with entering invoices into the accounting system.Match invoices to proper documentation (purchase orders, approvals).Help prepare vendor files and maintain organized records.Support weekly check runs and electronic payments.Cash & Bank Support: Assist with entering invoices into the accounting system.Match invoices to proper documentation (purchase orders, approvals).Help prepare vendor files and maintain organized records.Support weekly check runs and electronic payments.General Accounting Support: Assist with entering invoices into the accounting system.Match invoices to proper documentation (purchase orders, approvals).Help prepare vendor files and maintain organized records.Support weekly check runs and electronic payments.Other Duties: Assist with entering invoices into the accounting system.Match invoices to proper documentation (purchase orders, approvals).Help prepare vendor files and maintain organized records.Support weekly check runs and electronic payments.Workforce Development: Responsible for maintaining up-to-date knowledge, skills, and abilitiesAttends and participates in in-service, monthly staff meetings, continuing education offerings, community training events, conferences, and webinars as appropriate.Required Education: Current enrollment in a Bachelor's degree program in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (Junior or Senior year preferred).Skills, Licensure, and Knowledge Requirements Prior office or accounting experience (preferred but not required). Basic understanding of accounting principles. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Good communication and interpersonal skills.Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer and telephone keyboard reach. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision requirements due to computer work. Light to moderate lifting is required.Work Environment: Moderate noise (i.e. business office with computers, phone, and printers, light traffic). Ability to work in a confined area. Ability to sit at a computer terminal for an extended period of time.Special Requirements: Ability to maintain confidentiality with financial information. Reliable attendance and professionalism.
