Skills and Competencies

• 5–9 years of experience analyzing U.S. public policy, regulatory, and legal developments and their business impact within a financial services company, regulator, government body, financial technology provider, or similar organization
• Strong understanding of U.S. government institutions, regulatory processes, and policymaking dynamics, with a demonstrated track record of regulatory and public policy analysis, strategy development, and stakeholder engagement
• Prior experience at a U.S. financial regulatory agency or other government body with responsibility for financial services policy or regulation is preferred
• Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate complex regulatory and policy issues clearly and effectively to senior leadership and diverse stakeholder groups
• Strong interpersonal, collaboration, and leadership skills, with a demonstrated ability to build relationships and drive execution across functions, business lines, and geographies
• Strong project management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and stakeholders simultaneously
• Demonstrated proficiency in artificial intelligence concepts, with hands-on experience using AI tools to streamline workflows and enhance operational efficiency. Proven ability to implement AI-powered solutions to solve business challenges. Demonstrates a growing awareness of AI risk management and a commitment to responsible and ethical AI use.

Education

• Bachelor's degree in legal studies, finance, economics, political science, public policy, communications, international relations, or a related discipline required

Responsibilities

The AVP plays a key role in guiding U.S. regulatory analysis, advancing external stakeholder engagement, and supporting Moody's Government, Public and Regulatory Affairs strategy. Specific responsibilities may include:

• Guiding analysts in tracking and analyzing regulatory and policy developments, preparing briefings and policy updates relevant to Moody's business, including those related to credit rating agencies, capital markets, private credit, insurance regulation, risk assessment tools, financial crime compliance, trade policy, and geopolitical issues
• Preparing and presenting clear, well-structured verbal and written briefings and position papers on regulatory developments for senior leadership and business stakeholders
• Assessing the business implications of proposed and adopted regulation, translating complex legal and regulatory texts into actionable analysis
• Helping foster relationships with regulators, policymakers, trade groups, and other external stakeholders; attending external events and sharing insights with internal stakeholders
• Preparing briefing materials, talking points, and background research ahead of senior-level meetings with government officials and regulators
• Coordinating the internal adoption of technology for stakeholder engagement tracking, including the collection, monitoring, and reporting of engagement activity and related metrics, with a focus on efficiency and continuous improvement
• Working closely with Government, Public and Regulatory Affairs colleagues globally to ensure regulatory positions are aligned with global strategy and messaging; supporting internal working groups and team-led events
• Collaborating with Legal, Compliance, Risk, and business line teams to gather input, leverage subject matter expertise, and ensure alignment on regulatory and public policy matters

About the Team

Moody's Government, Public and Regulatory Affairs (GPRA) team is a global, strategic function within Global Corporate Affairs, reporting directly to the Chief Corporate Affairs Officer. The team is responsible for providing expertise in government relations, public policy, regulatory analysis, and geopolitical affairs that inform Moody's strategy, commercial activities, and risk management across all business lines and markets. GPRA shapes Moody's positions on regulatory policy worldwide, builds and maintains relationships with governments, regulators, and multilateral institutions, and advances thought leadership that strengthens Moody's reputation with policymakers. By joining our team, you will be part of high-impact work spanning U.S. and global markets, including emerging policy areas such as artificial intelligence and technological innovation, where the team actively contributes to shaping Moody's forward-looking engagement strategy.

For US-based roles only: the anticipated hiring base salary range for this position is $140,200.00 - $203,350.00, depending on factors such as experience, education, level, skills, and location. This range is based on a full-time position. In addition to base salary, this role is eligible for incentive compensation.
