Job Overview: Join The Produce Box in Raleigh, NC as a Produce Packer/Checker and play a vital role in delivering fresh, local food products to our community. In this part-time position, you will ensure that our produce is packed with care and efficiency, maintaining our high standards of quality and timeliness. Your enthusiasm for local food and positive team spirit will be key to our success. Key Responsibilities:
- Packing/Checking Fresh Produce: Efficiently pack fruits, vegetables, and local food products into containers, ensuring they remain fresh and visually appealing. Adhere to company guidelines to uphold product quality and packaging standards.
- Quality Assurance: Inspect produce for freshness and quality, and report any issues to supervisors. Ensure all items meet our high standards before they leave the facility. Check contents to ensure there are no missing items.
- Timeliness: Work efficiently to meet daily packing targets and deadlines, contributing to a smooth and timely production process.
- Team Collaboration: Collaborate with fellow team members to foster a positive and supportive work environment. Share knowledge and assist each other to achieve team goals.
- Labeling and Documentation: Accurately apply labels and complete necessary paperwork related to packaging and inventory management.
- Safety and Cleanliness: Follow safety procedures, use personal protective equipment as required, and maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Passion for Local Food: Show enthusiasm for supporting local food producers and engage with our mission to provide quality local products to the community.
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Experience: Previous experience in packing or food handling is advantageous but not required.
- Skills:
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining product quality.
- Ability to work efficiently and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills with a positive attitude.
- Basic math skills for measuring and counting.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to lift and carry items up to 40 lbs, stand for extended periods, and perform repetitive tasks. Comfort with working in various environmental conditions (e.g., cool storage areas).
- Schedule: Must be available to work early mornings (5 AM) on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Flexibility is required Monday through Thursday to accommodate varying weekly volumes. Average hours are about 12-15 per week.
- Compensation: Starting at $13/hour with opportunities for growth based on performance and tenure.
- Weekly Stipend: $15 per week to spend on food in our online store.
- 401(k): Available to all employees after 6 months of employment, with employer matching.
