Associate Patient Care Coordinator

ReceptionistResponsible for greeting and providing a professional reception to patients, answering the telephone, scheduling appointments, registering patients, providing information, and collecting payments. In addition, the receptionist is responsible for a variety of clerical duties including: creating, maintaining, and filing patient charts, distributing reports, and sorting and distributing mail/faxes.Essential functions:Greet patients in a warm and approachable manner creating a positive first impressionVerify and update patient information including insurance informationMake sure patients complete and sign all required formsCollect and process copays and outstanding balancesObtain insurance referrals when required by insuranceCheck patients out, make future appointments and give instructions as neededRun end of day reports ensuring day totals match collected amountsAnswer telephones in a friendly and professional mannerRegister new patients in EPIC and make appointmentsAnswer patients' non-clinical questions or direct to appropriate personScan documents into EpicReschedule appointments as neededMedical Records (incoming and outgoing)Review incoming faxes and route to appropriate departmentsRead and reply to interoffice emailsMaintain strict confidentiality and adhere to all HIPAA guidelines/regulationsOther miscellaneous dutiesQualifications:Experience with EMR software (EPIC experience a plus)Light, accurate keyboarding skills requiredStrong organizational abilities and the capacity to multitask effectivelyAttention to detail and accuracy in all tasksKnowledge of healthcare insurance and medical terminology is advantageousConsistent ability to show up on time and maintain reliable attendanceMaintaining a positive and friendly attitude, contributing to a welcoming environment for patientsAbility to communicate clearly and effectively with patients, colleagues, and healthcare providersA genuine and empathetic approach towards patients, understanding their concerns and demonstrating compassionAbility to adapt to changing situations, ensuring flexibility in handling diverse patient needs and office dynamics contagious energy and positive attitude in patient interactionsEducation/Requirements :High School Diploma or equivalent; additional healthcare administration education or experience is a plusEnvironmental/Working Conditions :Work is performed in an office environment.Work may be stressful at times due to busy office.Interaction with others is constant and interruptive.Physical Demands :Work may require hand dexterity for telephone and office machine operation.There may be excessive standing while at the check-in counter.There may also be occasional lifting of supplies up to 20lbs.This position rotates between our Morristown and Whippany office, spending 1-2 days a week at our call center in Whippany and 3-4 days at the desk in Morristown.Hours are 7:45 AM to 4:30 or close (close can be as late as 6:00 PM)
