Job Title: Medical Assistant Location: Simi Valley, CA Job Summary: Performs a broad range of administrative and clerical duties in support of department operations. Directs workflow. Maintains a consistent and professional appearance in all communications in written and verbal form. Assists with research and provides administrative support to special projects. Schedule: Monday – Friday 8:15am – 5:15pm 13-Week Assignment Pay: $26.00 -$28.00 DEO Essential Job Functions: Set up exam rooms and check in patients. Maintains a patient recall system, including continuity of care logs for lab tests, referrals and transfers. Obtains vital signs. Reports significant findings and pertinent patient observations to clinic physicians. Performs venipunctures, audiometry and vision testing as ordered. Answers phone, takes messages and directs call to the appropriate person. Admit patients into clinic. Pull charts, processes encounter forms, verify insurance and patient information in computer. Makes appropriate updates, copies/scans insurance information for clinic registration. Prepare charts with appropriate forms necessary to complete the visit. Performs filing activities for department. Orders and maintains an adequate inventory of all office supplies and equipment. Identifies status of patient's insurance, as well as range of benefits. Identifies and collects co-payments and limits of services for all patients. Prepares and completes referrals for patients, obtaining authorizations, and assisting patients and physicians with referral coordination as ordered. Completes and forwards all required information, charts, records, documents and/or films as requested. Requests previous patient records from medical records as needed. Maintains department records, reports, statistics. Provides appropriate forms to billing and other departments. Inform patients of any preparations needed for examination and remind them of their preparations at time of appointment confirmation. Obtains all necessary billing, insurance and other demographic information. Digitizes films from prior studies. Receives payment from attorneys for copying films or creating CDs. Coordinates the storage of films in the assigned storage area. Assists in scheduling appointments and making reservations for departmental needs such as classes, programs and in-services. Performs other job-related duties as assigned. Requirements: 2 years of Experience as Medical Assistant High School Diploma/GED or Equivalent Must Have Epic Experience Organized and maintained files, documents, and office records. Knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, Excel and other basic office software. BLS Certified by AHA Only Must be able to pass medical screenings Must be able to pass background check.
