Accounting Assistant Manager

Essential Job Functions Support the Accounting Manager in monitoring and analyzing accounting data and producing financial reports and statements. Supervise all the accounting procedures and processes for the AR and AP teams. Manage ledger entries, banking reconciliations, and prepare monthly balance sheet statements. Investigate daily variances to identify errors, resolve discrepancies, and maintain compliance and data integrity. Assist the Accounting Manager in developing and implementing accounting policies, procedures and systems that support internal controls and expenditure management. Assign correct accounting codes to invoices, files, and receipts to maintain accurate and well-organized records. Support compliance with US GAAP and IFRS standards & procedures, applicable laws as well as Company accounting policies and procedures. Support the Accounting Manager in supervising, training and providing guidance to Accounting staff, including recruiting, interviewing and training new team members; provide constructive feedback, coaching, and conduct performance evaluations as needed. Improve workflow and efficiency during the ERP implementation process. Review payroll, vendor payments, commissions, and other accounting disbursements for accuracy and compliance. Assist in coordinating internal and external audit activities by preparing documentation and responding to auditor requests. Attend Company events and functions outside of normal working hours. Perform other duties as assigned. Obligation to answer to all management as requested. Other Requirements Business level English – Read/write/speak/listen. Business level Japanese; Native level Japanese preferred – Read/write/speak/listen. Maintain a positive attitude. Ability to adapt to frequent changes in assignments and workload. Bachelor’s Degree in accounting or other related field required. 5+ years of experience in Accounting or other relevant experience required, including at least 3 years in a supervisory role. Certified Public Accountant (CPA) License and JSOX experience preferred. Experience with Microsoft based ERP systems (Business Central, Dynamics NAV), and QuickBooks. Knowledge and Skills Advanced mathematical knowledge – profit margin calculations, markups, discounts, counting inventory, weight and measurement conversions, combining, etc. Strong organizational, leadership and time management skills. Proficiency in accounting principles, practices, standards, laws and regulations. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office. Strong communication, interpersonal, problem-solving skills, and attention to detail. Excellent mentoring, coaching and people management skills.
