Salary: $75,000 - 115,000 per year Requirements:

• We require 10+ years of experience in embedded C programming, Linux, and operating systems.
• We require 10+ years of deep expertise in WiFi standards and networking.
• We require 10+ years of strong debugging and problem-solving capability.
• We value prior experience with networking equipment such as WiFi routers, cable modems, and CMTS platforms.
• Experience with OpenSync, OpenWRT, and RDK-B is considered an advantage.
• Familiarity with 5G/LTE technology at a high level is beneficial.

• We develop and maintain WiFi radio configurations across Qualcomm, Broadcom, and Atheros chipsets for 2.4GHz, 5GHz, and 6GHz bands.
• We implement and troubleshoot WiFi capabilities such as band steering, client steering, DFS/non-DFS channel selection, BSS Coloring, OFDMA, MU-MIMO, TWT, and MLO.
• We work with hostapd, wpa_supplicant, and driver interfaces including CFG80211, mac80211, and nl80211.
• We build and support OpenSync WiFi managers for cloud-controlled radio settings, client monitoring, and statistics reporting.
• We diagnose WiFi driver failures, firmware asserts, performance drops, and interoperability problems across client devices.
• We implement mesh and extender backhaul configuration and optimization.
• We tune RvR and throughput KPIs across firmware builds.
• We support channel switching, ECSA, radar detection, and regulatory compliance across multiple country codes.
• We implement phone-as-backhaul connectivity so the router can use a customers mobile device as a backup WAN path.
• We develop the router-side failover client that works with the companion mobile app to start and stop backup sessions.
• We build WAN outage detection and internet reachability health-check logic.
• We create route arbitration and traffic steering between the primary WAN and cellular backup.
• We manage concurrent WiFi AP and STA operation while the home network stays live and the router connects upstream through a phone hotspot.
• We handle USB tethering detection and network interface management for RNDIS, CDC-NCM, and CDC-ECM.
• We implement graceful failback when the primary WAN returns.
• We develop LED state machine logic to indicate multi-WAN connectivity status.
• We add QoS and bandwidth management during cellular backup mode.
• We design, develop, and debug embedded C software for Linux-based residential gateway platforms on ARM/MIPS SoCs.
• We maintain OpenSync managers as event-driven daemons that interact with OVSDB for cloud-managed configuration and state reporting.
• We implement secure TLS communication with mutual authentication between the router and cloud/mobile applications.
• We debug kernel-level issues such as network driver crashes, kernel panics, and memory leaks.
• We develop init scripts, UCI configuration handlers, and persistent storage management for OpenWrt.
• We analyze and resolve field issues using device logs, crash dumps, logpull analysis, and remote diagnostics.
• We write unit tests and participate in code reviews through GitLab merge requests.
• We collaborate with hardware, QA, cloud platform, mobile app, and service provider teams.

We are hiring an Embedded Developer for an onsite role in Englewood, CO. This opportunity is for W2 and local candidates only. The work spans WiFi integration, cellular backup or phone-as-backhaul, and embedded Linux platform development for residential gateway products. We work across cloud-managed networking stacks, OpenSync, OpenWrt, and related device software, partnering closely with hardware, QA, cloud platform, mobile app, and service provider teams.
