SVP of Data Center Construction

As Senior Vice President, Construction, you will provide strategic leadership across a global portfolio of hyperscale, built-to-suit, and AI-optimized data center developments. You will be responsible for establishing and scaling world-class construction operations, ensuring the successful execution of large-scale projects from site acquisition through commissioning and handover. This executive leadership role requires a proven builder of teams, programs, and infrastructure platforms, capable of driving consistency, speed, innovation, and operational excellence across multiple regions simultaneously. The successful candidate will partner closely with Development, Design, Procurement, Operations, Finance, and Executive Leadership to deliver mission-critical infrastructure supporting the next generation of cloud and AI workloads. Job Description As SVP of Construction, you will lead all aspects of global construction delivery across a portfolio of hyperscale and AI-focused data center developments. You will establish construction strategy, oversee execution performance, build high-performing regional teams, and ensure projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. You will serve as a key member of the leadership team responsible for scaling a global development platform while implementing industry‑leading construction practices, contractor partnerships, and delivery methodologies. Success in this role requires executive presence, exceptional leadership capability, deep technical expertise in mission‑critical infrastructure, and the ability to manage complex stakeholder relationships across multiple international markets. Key Responsibilities Include Lead global construction strategy and execution for hyperscale, AI‑ready, and built‑to‑suit data center developments. Build, mentor, and lead a best‑in‑class construction organization across multiple regions. Establish scalable construction processes, governance frameworks, reporting standards, and delivery methodologies. Drive project performance across cost, schedule, quality, safety, and operational readiness metrics. Partner with Development teams during site selection, due diligence, entitlement, and permitting activities. Collaborate with Design and Engineering teams to optimize constructability, scalability, and operational performance. Develop and manage executive relationships with General Contractors, trade partners, consultants, and suppliers. Lead procurement and contracting strategies, including GC selection, negotiations, and commercial management. Champion Lean Construction methodologies and continuous improvement initiatives. Drive innovation in construction technology, modularization, prefabrication, and AI‑enabled project delivery tools. Oversee project controls, risk management, forecasting, and capital deployment across the construction portfolio. Ensure implementation of world‑class safety standards and operational excellence practices. Support sustainability initiatives, energy efficiency objectives, and future‑ready infrastructure requirements. Provide regular executive updates regarding portfolio performance, risks, opportunities, and strategic initiatives. Collaborate with Operations teams to ensure seamless transition from construction through commissioning and operational handover. Required 15+ years of progressive leadership experience in construction, development, engineering, or mission‑critical infrastructure delivery. Extensive experience leading hyperscale data center, mission‑critical, advanced manufacturing, semiconductor, or similarly complex infrastructure projects. Demonstrated success managing large‑scale capital programs exceeding $1B+ in aggregate project value. Proven ability to lead geographically dispersed teams and manage multiple projects simultaneously. Strong understanding of design‑build delivery, construction management, project controls, commissioning, and operational readiness. Deep expertise in contractor management, procurement strategy, commercial negotiations, and contract administration. Experience supporting development activities including due diligence, entitlement, and permitting processes. Exceptional executive communication and stakeholder management skills. Strong financial acumen with experience managing large capital budgets and investment performance metrics. Ability to travel internationally as required. Preferred Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field. Advanced degree (MBA, MS Engineering, or equivalent) preferred. Experience delivering hyperscale or AI‑focused data center facilities. Strong understanding of high‑density compute environments, advanced cooling technologies, and mission‑critical systems. Experience scaling construction organizations during periods of rapid growth. Demonstrated success implementing digital construction technologies, automation, and AI‑enabled project management solutions. Professional certifications such as PE, PMP, CCM, DBIA, or equivalent are highly desirable. Compensation In addition to base compensation, the successful candidate will be eligible for a highly competitive executive incentive package, including annual bonus and long‑term incentive opportunities. Total compensation will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and overall alignment with the role.
