Advertised Job Summary: Join our Institutional Research and Analytics team and play an important role in turning institutional data into accurate, meaningful information that supports the University’s reporting and compliance efforts. The Institutional Research Analyst works with data from multiple systems, prepares key state, federal, and external reports, and partners with colleagues across campus to strengthen data quality and consistency. Job Related Minimum Required Education and Experience: Requires a bachelor’s degree in a job related field and 2 or more years of job related experience, which may be substituted by an equivalent combination of job related certification, training, education, and/or experience. Preferred Qualifications: A master’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Mathematics, Information Technology, or related field. Two or more years working with higher education institutional data, compliance reporting, accreditation, state or federal reporting, or national surveys preferred. Experience with Banner, PeopleSoft, Cognos, SAS, Tableau, or similar reporting and data-management tools preferred. Strong attention to detail; ability to manage multiple deadlines; and demonstrated skill in data validation, documentation, problem solving, and communicating with campus partners. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Ability to manage and prioritize many assignments/projects simultaneously. Enjoyment and comfort at working collaboratively in a deadline and detail-oriented setting. Experience with large, complex relational databases and in querying enterprise data systems (e.g., Banner, PeopleSoft) and warehouse environments. Demonstrated ability to quickly master new technology. Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and at least one statistical software application such as SAS, SPSS, R, STATA, or Python. Strengths in problem solving, critical thinking, and data/statistical analyses. Experience in the development of effective data visualizations using tools such as Tableau or Power BI. Demonstrated effectiveness in communicating findings orally, graphically, and in written form to a variety of audiences. Job Duty 1: Prepare, validate, reconcile, and submit required institutional data files and reports, including IPEDS, Commission on Higher Education reporting, and other state, federal, and external reporting requirements. Ensure submissions are accurate, timely, complete, and supported by appropriate documentation. Percentage of Time: 35% Job Duty 2: Compile and analyze data from institutional systems and external sources; investigate discrepancies; apply established reporting definitions and business rules; and work with campus partners to resolve data-quality issues before submission. Percentage of Time: 25% Job Duty 3: Coordinate the collection, preparation, and review of data for national surveys, guidebooks, accreditation-related reporting, and other institutional compliance requests. Maintain reporting calendars, deadlines, source files, and submission records. Percentage of Time: 15% Job Duty 4: Support continuous improvement of reporting processes by identifying opportunities to strengthen data validation, streamline recurring reports, improve documentation, and preserve reporting continuity during system, policy, or organizational changes. Percentage of Time: 15% Job Duty 5: Develop and maintain documentation for reporting processes, data definitions, validation procedures, and institutional metrics. Provide clear communication and technical assistance to campus partners regarding reporting requirements and appropriate use of institutional data.
