Program Coordinator

The Town of Middlebury is seeking an enthusiastic, highly motivated, and community oriented individual to serve as a full‑time Recreation Program Coordinator within the Parks & Recreation Department. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, coordinating, staffing, and overseeing a wide range of recreational programs, events, and activities that serve residents of all ages throughout the year. This position supports existing programs while also developing new opportunities that strengthen community engagement and promote healthy, active lifestyles. Programs may include youth and adult sports leagues, summer day camps, special community events, wellness and enrichment programs, and seasonal recreational offerings. The Program Coordinator works collaboratively with the Recreation Director, local schools, community organizations, volunteers, and other municipal departments to ensure successful programming and strong community participation. This position is also responsible for the management and oversight of the municipal recreation facility and athletic fields, including scheduling, coordinating maintenance needs, and assisting with supervising volunteers and part‑time staff. The ideal candidate will be friendly, highly organized, and community‑focused, with the ability to manage multiple programs simultaneously while maintaining strong communication with the public. Experience with recreation programming, volunteer coordination, and event management is preferred. Strong computer and communication skills are essential. Familiarity with MyRec recreation management software is helpful but not required.
