Senior Accountant

Senior Accountant | Hybrid | Long Island or Brooklyn, NY

A well-established nonprofit organization serving children, youth, and families across New York City and Long Island is seeking a Senior Accountant to join its expanding Finance & Accounting team. This is a newly created position reporting directly to the Controller and offers excellent exposure to nonprofit financial operations, government contract reporting, and regulatory compliance.

$90,000 - $100,000 (depending on experience) Hybrid Schedule – 1 day/week in office

Prepare monthly and quarterly financial statements and management reporting packages

Perform month-end and year-end close activities

Treasury management and cash reporting

Bank reconciliations and balance sheet account reconciliations

Budget preparation, forecasting, and variance analysis

Prepare CFR workpapers and complete New York State CFR filings

Support annual audits and Form 990 preparation

Ensure compliance with nonprofit accounting standards and internal controls

Partner with program and contracts teams regarding government-funded programs and reimbursements

Assist with consolidated financial reporting

5+ years of nonprofit accounting experience Strong experience with NYS CFR reporting Knowledge of government contracts and reimbursement funding Experience preparing and managing program budgets Treasury management, financial statement preparation, audit support, and bank reconciliations Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance Advanced Excel skills Experience with Sage Intacct and Martus is a plus
