Program Director, Internal Medicine Residency

\n

Full-Time Opening in San Francisco, CA

\n

(Minimum 50% administrative time)

\n

 

\n

Established in 1954, our Internal Medicine residency program has a longstanding tradition of training future internists for careers in primary care, subspecialty medicine, and hospital medicine. The program includes 45 residents and  two chief residents . Each intern class consists of 7 preliminary interns, 10 categorical interns, and 2 residents in the combined Internal Medicine/Master’s in Public Health track.

We are fortunate to have multiple  ACGME‑accredited fellowship programs based at Kaiser Permanente San Francisco, including Cardiology, Gastroenterology, Hematology/Oncology, and Nephrology, as well as  non‑ACGME one‑year fellowships in HIV Medicine. We work closely with our affiliate Internal Medicine programs at Kaiser Oakland and Santa Clara.

The Program Director has responsibility, authority, and accountability for program administration and operations; teaching and scholarly activity; resident recruitment, evaluation, promotion, and disciplinary action; supervision of residents; and resident education in the context of patient care.

\n

 

\n

The Program Director will:

\n

\n
• Maintain and promote an innovative, inclusive medical education environment that integrates clinical experience and evidence‑based practice
\n
• Oversee program faculty
\n
• Ensure program compliance with ACGME accreditation requirements
\n
• Mentor junior faculty and residents
\n
• Assist in the oversight of ACGME fellowship programs
\n
• Oversee the recruitment, selection, supervision, evaluation, advancement, and counseling of residents
\n

\n

 

\n

Qualifications

\n

\n
• Minimum of  three years of GME teaching and/or administrative experience as a Program Director, Associate Program Director, or Core Faculty
\n
• Board Certification in Internal Medicine
\n
• Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
\n
• Demonstrated clinical excellence, scholarly activity, and teaching ability
\n
• Passion for medical education and fostering a culture of excellence
\n
• Proven ability to promote a collaborative and innovative training environment
\n
• Experience in medical education and program development
\n

Base salary is $316,899 to $326,700. Final compensation will be determined in consultation with local leadership based on the candidate’s experience and qualifications.
